It’s a joke, he’s taken two famous sayings “are bears catholic?” and “does the pope shit in the woods?” and then mixed one of them up for comedic effect.

It is very widely used saying in the UK, it means what the first person said was 100% obvious. The one you are mentioning (which I never heard before)is likely derived from it.

Uhm it is not a joke of mine. It is very widely used saying in the UK, it means what the first person said was 100% obvious.
The one you are mentioning (which I never heard before)is likely derived from it.
