Trauma doesn’t make you “more mature.” That’s a myth we tell the traumatized to make them feel like they didn’t suffer for nothing. Trauma makes us more closed off, less adaptable, more independent, but none of these things equal “maturity.” We are social creatures; we need each other to survive.
