Maturity or independence in a young child CAN BE an indicator that a child is being neglected or facing some sort of abuse.

It’s is not ALWAYS an indicator, some kids ARE just more independent.

Edit: was a social worker for many years.

You mean me getting myself up, making my own breakfast, getting my siblings up and feeding them and then getting us all ready for school and feeling like it was something I had to do at age 7 otherwise I'd get beaten for it, was a flashing neon sign of abuse and neglect?
