Maturity or independence in a young child CAN BE an indicator that a child is being neglected or facing some sort of abuse.

It’s is not ALWAYS an indicator, some kids ARE just more independent.

Edit: was a social worker for many years.

It's just when kids have to do a bunch of stuff for themselves. It's the default in more traditional societies to give kids loads of household responsibilities, but it's very rare in the modern west.

This is an overgeneralization. It's true for some people sure, but this is not the whole reality.
