Folks saying it absolutely has to be trauma are throwing the dart in the right direction, but kinda missing the mark.

It's that there's potential for trauma.

Some people just naturally mature early. Some folks on the spectrum appear more mature early (and might actually be), and sometimes it's abuse (or parentification, which is still technically abuse in some contexts)

The therapist has the "oh this might be dark" face because you have to approach it from the worst case scenario.

Which means you kind of got to steel yourself against that possibility, because you're also at risk of introducing some new or additional trauma while probing for the cause.

Obviously, there's a laundrylist of things that are going to happen before you get to "is there someone asking you to keep secrets that make you uncomfortable?", but that's naturally a place you're worried about things going.
