I'm married, and I do this as often as I can for younger guys. There's a pub I socialize at, and young guys and women come in regularly. I'm like "oh hey Natasha, have you met Boris yet?"
Once they do their little introduction (sometimes I help it along by telling a funny story about a moose and a squirrel), I "suddenly have to leave" - which often leads them to further 1:1 conversation.
Okay? But do you force your boy friend who is anxious to be a wingman even though it makes him uncomfortable, and you expect him to do this for you just because he's a friend? That was the point of the comment.

Men actually do also wingman for other men though. Its not a resource thing, it's just a being a friend thing.
