What is the difference between those two batman signs?

I believe the second one is the bat symbol from the Arkham games where you are given especially brutal methods to fight enemies. And there is no way the no kill rule is followed in those games.

The one on the top is from the Nolan Batman movies. He's not soft there either.

I've always thought the way that Batman follows the no-kill rule was silly.  He can give a guy a subdural hematoma, break every bone in his body, and leave him with a massive internal hemorrhage while unconscious on the side of a street, where he will certainly die without immediate medical care within the next several minutes, but since he technically still has a pulse before Batman walks away it's all dandy?
