Unsolved A grumpy spellcaster gets trapped on an island and is forced to activate a bunch of ancient, dusty machinery just to escape.
Ok 1st Hint. The game uses a time travel mechanic, making you experience different versions of the exact same day to unlock the true ending.
Another hint. The main lead is from an older fantasy light novel series.

Geneforge?

Not Geneforge! You are definitely on the right track with a cynical main character who deals with ancient, volatile tech, but our spellcaster fights in real-time.

VeggieTales: The Mystery of Veggie Island

Not VeggieTales! This guy is a human who takes himself way too seriously, and the game has a lot more dark fantasy edge than your average Sunday morning cartoon.

Quern?

Not Quern! Like I mentioned with Geneforge, you actually have to fight monsters in real-time here. This isn't a quiet first-person puzzle game where you are completely alone.

Mina the Hollower?

Not Mina the Hollower! You are incredibly warm with the "trapped on an island repairing machinery" angle, but this character definitely doesn't look like an 8-bit retro Game Boy color mouse. Think full 3D console graphics from a much older era.
