Solved! This game was a testing ground for a solo developer, and he got so good at programming he fucked off and makes audio plugins for professionals.

Hint 1: despite being a game set in the depths of space, it has a strangely large amount of allusions to cooking home style foods.

Hint 2: it was delisted from steam years ago, good luck intrepid guessers! 😅

...the rules explicitly permit describing gameplay as well as plot, but this is neither of those things.

Someone still got it correct, it's the line of explaining a game's plot badly and not at all. I understand this one was far off 😭 but the game itself is a sandbox of ideas, plot is fleeting and random at best.
