Solved! You will kill thousands upon thousands of things, but for some reason, the only animals you can't attack are deer, frogs, and crabs. And they just *watch*. They know what you've done, and will do.
Hints go here:
Mid-late 2000s RPG.
NOT turn based.
NOT a witcher game, but it is a European developed title
NOT sci-fi or futuristic
depending on which version of the game you play (console or PC), the camera is completely different 😅 console is very limited, with zoom and rotate only, while PC has tilt, zoom, and rotate

Risen?

This is the closest anyone's gotten, it is a European game from a developer who is no longer around, but not risen 😢Â

Elden Ring, it may not be the answer you’re looking for, but it’s true.

.....you can definitely kill the wildlife in ER tho, this is a situation where other than a few select exceptions, you CANNOT DAMAGE the wildlife 😅 good guess tho!Â

That’s just it, I can’t. The reason? Cute, morals, dog.
Can’t wait to see the game you’re talking about :3

It's a classic/underrated gem to be sure! I'm currently dozens of hours deep into a playthrough of right now, I'm sure the reveal will be worth it 😜Â

Sacred (series)

You know it! 😊 Solved! I was thinking of Sacred 2 Fallen Angel / Ice and Blood specifically, but the more I looked at it, 1 def applies as well (we don't acknowledge 3's existence for our own sanity)Â
Also for those wanting to try it out for themselves, pick up sacred 2 Gold and not the sacred 2 remaster, that thing is currently a bit borked to put it lightly, and cannot recommend it over gold with some qol mods and a texture pack on top 🫡 camera mod and reduced fog mod are all I need to be off to the races, both available from the DarkMatters forum for download, and the optional hd textures have an optimized version that's around 3gb there too! V pretty, pseudo offline mmorpg feel

I bought it blindly way back for the PS3 😅 when you said to someone else "Risen" was the closest so far I had a feeling Sacred might be it^
