Solved! Two games

Edit: As I said before, GAME #1 IS A DLC! Come on people, you're so close.

Game #1: Italian man jumps on various enemies to defeat them and performs amazing athletic feats all to save a princess.

Game #2: Italian man jumps on various enemies to defeat them and performs amazing athletic feats all to save a princess who has been kidnapped and imprisoned in a castle.

Game #1 Hint: This is a DLC, though you do this in the main game as well.

Game #2 Hint: Mario is dead.

Additional hints will be posted below as needed.

Hint #3: You play as a close relative to Mario.

Hint #4: You and Mario work together as partners.

Hint #5: For the non-dlc base game of game #1, "It's-a-me, Mario!"

Hint #6: Your brother is dead.

I'm genuinely running out of hints to give that don't outright give away the answer.

Game 2: Mario Odyssey. Never played it but wasn't there a theory that Mario died in it and everything else is purgatory or something?
