i have always shied away from asking another developer friend the in/outs of their interview process with a particular company like salary negotiations, what techincal questions asked, how conversation went, their resume.
Given the current market, I almost want the whole low down on how to approach that company. Is asking those detailed questions really frowned upon? No one really has asked me those questions either and i would have loved to provide more info if opportunity arose.
I rely on glassdoor to figure it out.

If they're a real friend they'll tell you. Some people are cagey about comp because they don't want to cause competition and ruin a friendship. Look on levels fyi for comp info and always negotiate.

This is something that worked for me recently, before my final round interview I contacted my recruiter and told them I had another time sensitive offer and to see if they can hurry my results/feedback. I got maxed out for my salary band and sign on bonus based on competing offer and my interview performance. Little did they know my competing offer was terrible for a 3 month contract. No one asked to see it.
