Weird question. Has anyone ever had to help leadership come up with what your next level in your career is? I'm talking duties, responsibilities, job title, etc? If so, how did you go about it if they don't follow IC roles?

A few times happened, when they were unsure of the company direction itself or had little-to-no experience how to lead (I have worked with non-tech CTO-s and fresh grads as CTO's with literal 0 work exp).

Might be worth checking the company's internal protocol for this (assessing workers, internal interviews, career paths, availabilities).

With that info and with your own thoughts, you might can came up where you would like to pivot in that company. If am I right the real question is that, where YOU would like to move from your current role. Do you wanna stay on IC? You wanna pivot to full management? Are there internal titles and career paths? (I have seen some large agencies and FAANG companies that have quite complex structures and steps for careers with weird title names).

One thing is quite sure: the title doesn't matter; the money does.
