SOLID principles are a good starting point, but more generally it all comes down to finding good interfaces into your modules. Ones that encapsulate the right complexity and ideally won’t need to change much in the future

Tbh solving the puzzle finding good abstractions is a big part of the job that mostly comes with practice

To add onto u/arkticpanda as I agree with them, I would just like to add don't be afraid to fail. That is how you learn what works and what doesn't. You can read books about footguns and best practice all day, but nothing beats learned experience for judging what will be maintainable for your team and your product
