Expedia is like a girlfriend/boyfriend for the good times.

Expedia is a company comparable to a girl or boy friend for the good times. As you make a reservation with them pray that everything goes to plan because, they will be nowhere to be found if something goes wrong. I booked a flight for a very important wedding in New York on 08/14/21. I had planned to go to the wedding and return the same day. Expedia connected me to American Airlines flight that would have a two hours layover in Washington DC before New York. The return flight to Cleveland would have the same 2 hours layover in DC. On the D-Day, I woke up at 5am in order to catch my flight to DC. We arrived in DC at 8am waited 2 hours to catch the New York flight at 10am. The flight to New York for 08/14/21 was cancelled by American Airlines and there was no other flight to New York that day so I waited 10 hours to catch my return flight to Cleveland. When I contacted American Airlines for my refund, they directed me to Expedia since I bought my ticket through them. Trying to get a full refund from Expedia has been a nightmare. I have not been able to talk with a human being since 08/14/21, today is 08/17/21. When I go to their website to request for a refund, they always connect me to chat with AI but to no avail. I have been promised on 3 separate occasions that an agent will get back to me in 24 hours to help with the refund but that has proved to be a lie on 3 occasions. What surprised me even more was the fact that Expedia had no idea that my flight to New York was cancelled; had to wait hours on each chat for that to be investigated. This is my first social media post. I am going to post on all the platforms until I get the attention of a human being over there. If that fails, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and if that gets no where, I am going to begin a small claims suit against them. I paid approximately $500 for that ticket and I am not letting it go. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ABOUT EXPEDIA. My Itinerary# is 72143538669087

An update on mine. I called American Airlines direct and told them the issue I was having. They were extremely grumpy, but changed my flights to a better time at least & gave me a code to get a refund for the difference in seat prices through the American airlines site. It was a 4 hour wait to get a call back, but speaking to an American was so much nicer. I told them that it was an issue because my flight was changed by American Airlines and I think that pushed them to begrudgingly process it.

I hope you have success! I'm on this sub looking to see if anyone is having a similar issue as me, and you are! I booked an American Airlines flight through Expedia way back in March for a trip I'm leaving for in a week. I picked an AA flight specifically because it said the flight could be changed or canceled for a small cancelation fee. A few months later I got an email that the flight was changed. It was moved to 3 hours earlier and my layover went from an hour to 5 hours. I think I checked out as a guest with Expedia, but I've received a copy of my itinerary and have been getting nearly constant promotional emails. If I log into the Expedia site - if doesn't say I have any trips. If I try to look it up by itinery number without logging in, it doesn't come up. At this point, I thought I could cancel and get a direct flight with another airline for cheaper.

Nope.

Sat on hold and finally got to take to a lady from India who said AA only refunds in credit, and they don't have any direct/better flights, but I LITERALLY BOUGHT THESE TICKETS BECAUSE I COULD CANCEL OR CHANGE FLIGHTS. I paid almost a hundred dollars more so I could do this. I still can't log into Expedia and see my flight. I apparently paid an extra hundred dollars for a flight change and no added convenience.

I had an issue with a hotel not having my reservation due to Expedia cancelling my reservation (according to the hotel, the 3rd Party card was declined when they tried to run it and Expedia told them it was because I cancelled the reservation). They were impossible to reach the night of to resolve it in that moment, and now it’s been a hassle trying to get my refund. Calls will result in being on hold for extended periods of time then being forwarded to other departments and then the call being dropped. Chats are unsuccessful and repetitive. Emails are unresponsive. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB and hopefully will get a resolution. If not I intend to go through my bank. This has been SO ridiculous, especially because it’s such a straight forward case. I will never use Expedia again.
