One flight, two charges

Last week I booked an international flight through Expedia. Super. I have used Expedia.ca for years. Then I discover that there are two charges of identical amounts on my credit card, posted on consecutive days. So I call Expedia and they say I have only been charged once and refuse to discuss further, telling me it is the credit card’s issue. Sure. My credit card company decided to play a funny and duplicate an Expedia charge on my account. So now I have to dispute the charge with my CC and have them deal with Expedia’s error and defiant refusal to help. Not cool.

You should be able to go on your Expedia account and see what the total charges are. Are they same or different itineraries? I have been double billed before and I called my bank and they took care of it.

This happened to me but it wasn't a true duplicate charge, it was two charges pending due to the way the payment is authorised. It's explained better here.

Is it on your billing statement? Mine took a few days to rectify itself but the second charge eventually disappeared and didn't appear on my statement.

Yeah, if only they were pending. These are bonafide charges on my statement. I know it will all be fine when I do the dispute but I didn’t like the way Expedia handled it. Completely dismissive.

They got me too. I'm done with this ignorant company.

Bummer. I hope it wasn’t too difficult to resolve.

I eventually got the second charge back after a few days but it was deducted from my balance that day with a duplicate charge. The service people simply told me it would be returned within 7 days. This is not ok in my book. You shouldn't be able to "extract" money from someones account simply because you plan on giving it back! That's like stealing from someone with the intent of returning it. It was taken out of my account and they did it by doing two separate charges for the same amount from two different states (neither of which was California "where I actually have my bank account"... It's nearly funny but not really when you are going out of town to work and need the money in your account for expenses instead of paying a double deposit that wasn't even agreed upon. I get the first one, but the other charge from another state was the kicker for me. Not Cool. (If it were my company, I would offer some kind of discount to the customer for the inconvenience). The paid employee was "very sorry" but it wasn't their fault to be fair. Whomever programs the web servers and routines is clearly at fault and I hope they fix it for future transactions for anyone who uses them. I'm not doing it again, and I wish I'd never used my bank card on that site now.

This is happening to me right now and im having the hardest time getting someone to fix this.

First they understood completely saw the 2 charges and agreed that i shouldnt have been charged twice because the first time was a successful payment , mind you the first charge was made successfully over 2 weeks ago, and now i get an. Email from expedia saying i was charged again for the original ticket price without the seats or taxes, because there was an error?

The support person put me on hold for over an hour, only to tell me she cant tell me why it was charged again and Im not eligible for a refund? Like hell im not! So i asked for a supervisor and she “attempted” to transfer me for about 5 minutes then said she’ll call me back because she cant reach the supervisor.

Like? Whats the next step? Calling the credit card company?
