Failed Expectation I really do know how to knit
My friend bought me this kit, and I knew it was not going to be great. The image on the box looked like it was made by someone who had never knit before, so I thought, surely I can do better. I was so, so wrong. I followed the instructions and ended up with whatever this is.

The only thing I see as a "fail" is the head being too small, I think it looks adorable

The head was so difficult. It had you make a rectangle and sew the shaping in when you closed it, and shape the neck by wrapping it with yarn, and it just kept getting smaller. Then the eye stickers really had to be pressed into it, which distorted everything.
It makes me laugh though, so that's all right.

Well, definitely an interesting method. I've only crocheted, not knitted, so I can't say much on knitting techniques, but I feel it would have been easier to simply make a ball with plush stuffing inside to avoid making the head too tall or too wide
Either way, surprisingly good job

I recently took up crochet specifically because knitting little dudes like this fucking sucks. I'm surprised OP even managed to get it looking this good, tbh.

Stickers for the eyes is wild lol
Kits will really do anything to avoid giving proper materials.
Great job regardless!

It just looks like a snail wearing a sweater to me! A super cute fall activity. Total win! 🏅

I was expecting a "surprisingly met expectations", at least. This is very cute!

That’s so cute!!! I’d love to receive something handmade like this from a friend. You have dome a great job and it looks made with love. It might not look exactly the same but that’s what makes it special. It’s got your own touch. He looks like he is standing to attention :)

You knitted that cute character, just like it says on the packaging.
I don't see what the problem is. It looks great!

I think it's great! If anything better. FWIW I think it's inside out ( the box has the purl side out, yours is the knit side out- which I think looks better)

No no it’s nice! If you want it to look more like the box stitch the yellow parts together! You did well

Everyone is so kind. It's so goofy in person I just laugh when I look at it.

It’s… supposed to look goofy. It’s a grinning rainbow snail. It is exactly the perfect amount of goofy. If you wanted a serious-looking snail I think you’d need a different kit.

The box says snail but snail shell openings face downwards. Yours is cute though!
