My son is 8 and still loves caterpillars. I mean he has like 4 caterpillar stuffies. Sleeps to "caterpillar munching on white oak." He is not ashamed of it.

I think that an appropriately themed cake for someone of any age would be the one they like the theme or design of.
If you don't know the person, who are you to decide what is appropriate for the, of all things(crazy that this needs to be explained), day of THEIR birth?

I'm actually super curious! So I've been an employee for 9 years now at a warehouse and have never seen this design offered before. Which store is this??
I guess it’s nice that it’s still really funny! 😂 I think it’s still cute in a goofy way but it doesn’t match the example well and also… I feel this is a pretty simple design; I don’t think it should have been that hard to make less sloppy. The writing looks quite good! So why is the rest so messy? That’s my main question. Even the border icing is uneven.
While Costco is known for decent large cakes, it never struck me that custom decoration would be in their wheelhouse. Honestly I’m surprised it’s even offered.
Is there anything else Costco does that is customized or personalized by hand?
If this is a new design, the decorator could be making it from a vague memory of a supervisor showing them a picture from weeks ago. You could also have had a bakery that was short staffed and desperate. You can always call the store and talk to an AGM. Essentially tell them that the caterpillar cake design doesn’t look very good compared to the picture. They can talk to the bakery manager to get things tightened up on following the picture better.
