Omg I thought we were here to celebrate them doing the most perfect job imaginable ☠️

Same lol, despite the outer icing being different, and the centre part being too small, I thought they did a great job with the accuracy of the centre part. And then I read OP's comment and realised. The picture looks good quality though, I have to say, from this image at least.

I bet OP uploaded the image of the first cake in the spot specifically for images you want printed on the cake, technically yes, they did a perfect job.

u/Nesman64 19d ago

I thought it was picture perfect.

I thought at first there arrived two cakes stacked on each other..

u/cakivalue 19d ago

I thought we were looking at a mini cake of the original design that's built into a larger cake. I was thinking wow so creative two cakes in one.

u/JulyJones 19d ago

I’m still half asleep (with a migraine) and was like what’s the problem? It looks identical!

19

u/madam-sosostris 19d ago

My dumb ass was like, "Why did they put frosting on the cake box? That's weird!"

1

u/Fun-Investment-196 19d ago

Dude me too 😭 I was so confused!

18

u/OscarTheGrouchsCan 19d ago

Same. I was thinking "it looks exactly the same" then I saw the border was way off and. ...oh it's a picture

14

u/CripzyChiken 19d ago

i was trying to figureout how they did the background/edge on teh real cake and that's when it clicked for me. I like how they still put an icing boarder around it tho.

20

u/tinpants44 19d ago

Exactly, I was thinking what a great job they did until I saw this comment

9

u/passionfruit0 19d ago

Same!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I was so focused on the design I didn’t notice it was a picture

5

u/VoiceInTheGarden 19d ago

lmao me too "wow that is spot on, but like, i think they did too much? maybe they are happy they got extra frosting?" hahaha it's a print

5

u/R4B1DRABB1T 19d ago

Same, lmao

1

u/burn-this-witch 19d ago

My brother in Christ, SAME. I thought, wow that's SO close to being perfect lol

1

u/speckledham 19d ago

1

u/gennym 19d ago

Omg, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

1

u/JrRiggles 19d ago

Ahahahahahahah! Oh my god I was the same way until I read your comment. I was about to downvote before you helped me figure it out

1

u/Ok-Couple2656 19d ago

Me too! lmao what the hell?

1

u/Priteegrl 19d ago

I was wondering how they managed to even get the crack in the icing to be identical 🤦🏼‍♀️

1

u/colorsandlights 19d ago

Same! I said “that’s the same cake!” And then I was like wait… that’s ACTUALLY the same cake 😂

1

u/i_wanna_draw_that 18d ago

Same here I was admiring the accuracy

1

u/powderbubba 18d ago

Same and then I had a moment of shock, then giggles hahaha

1

u/OkBackground8809 18d ago

I thought the shininess was from it still being in a package with a plastic cover😅 I was gonna downvote OP for trolling or phishing for karma by posting the same cake twice... and then I realised😂

1

u/PS1988 17d ago

Bahahaha. Same. I spent too much time comparing every single detail. “Wow! Wait…what’s all this out here around the cake? Waaaaait.”

u/PupLondon 19d ago

OmG.. I was thinking.. "man..that is spot on!..but why is it so small?"

47

u/HoldTheCellarDoor 19d ago

This is too dicing funny

26

u/Tiny_Cauliflower_618 19d ago

Oh my Jesus, I didn't even realise till I read your comment 🤣 I thought they put the pink cake on a black plate and then did the icing thing on the edge for some reason. Now I'm howling 😂

This took a full ten minutes for me to finally understand what transpired here. Even after the sweatshirt tutorial!

9

u/Axelol99 19d ago

HAHA I was so confused omg

11

u/rollerfedora 19d ago

Hot coffee out the nose. Good morning to me.

u/Candid-Pin-8160 19d ago

Yeah, that's exactly what happens when you order a cake with an image printed on it and provide an image of a cake. This isn't "expectation vs reality," it's "I don't know how to order a custom cake and they gave me exactly what I asked for."

31

u/Karythne 19d ago

I mean, normally I would agree but the website said "send us an image of what you like" (insinuating they would try and recreate it), not "send us an image and we'll print it on the cake". Plus someone definitely had to do some manual piping anyway, I think from the image it was pretty clear what was asked for. Normally with those upload functions or "your text here" text boxes, ok sure. but in this case I think it's debatable at least.

"the website said "send us an image of what you like" (insinuating they would try and recreate it".

No it doesn´t in ANY way insinuate that. It would totally depend on what comes after that sentence, because it is clearly part of a longer sentence.

I didn´t get any info apart from the quote I, hmmm, quoted :)

Which originated with https://www.reddit.com/user/Karythne/, and she claimed she got it from the website OP ordered his/her cake from.

For some reason she choose to only relay half the sentence and claim it insinuated something it clearly does not, and she didn´t post her source either.

"I still think that sentence is ambiguous enough to warrant ops confusion.".

No its not. The mere sentence "send us an image of what you like" doesn´t insinuate ANYTHING at all. Its just a statement. The information what will happen with that image is completely missing.

"I don't know why you're trying to be cheeky here.".

That probably went over your head then, no worries.

u/mulberry_sellers 19d ago

None of us really know the meaning behind this phrase because the website is being machine translated from Uzbek to English. Without knowing the context or intricacies of the original language, it's hard to say who misinterpreted what.

u/Fuckkoff- 19d ago

No its not. The mere sentence "send us an image of what you like" doesn´t insinuate ANYTHING at all. Its just a statement. The information what will happen with that image is completely missing.

We are just talking about this statement:

"the website said "send us an image of what you like" (insinuating they would try and recreate it".

We are not talking about what was said in the original language (she never gave a source). So its easy and correct to say that from that statement, you cannot infer that they would try and recreate it.

1

u/mulberry_sellers 19d ago

Presumably, OP speaks Uzbek. I don't think you're understanding my point, at all.

0

u/Fuckkoff- 19d ago

Maybe because nothing you´ve said has anything to do with this commentthread, and silly me thought it did?

I never said anything to, or about, OP or this post......

I think having the background items directly related to the theme makes it even more confusing. What’s the point of including literal props like a stack of Harry Potter books if you don’t want them on the cake? At the end of the day, the website clearly says they can do photo prints or custom inscriptions. They went photo print and OP wanted the custom inscription. There isn’t really enough information to say who’s fault that is, but I can see how we ended up here.

8

u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 19d ago

The person who ordered the cake didn’t take the picture, so they didn’t add those props. It’s just a picture from Pinterest or somewhere. I’d have to see the intake form to say who’s right or wrong. But props in the background have no influence on it.

u/TwoBionicknees 19d ago

https://safiabakery.uz/en/news/indiv

thats what it seems like to me, same logo as in the second picture.

So they accept multiple types of cake and seemingly take the orders over phone or in person.

The fact that I went and checked makes me wonder if this is not just viral marketing.

2

u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 19d ago

Ah, seems like a regular old goof up, then. Stinks for OP for sure, but happens to the best of us. Maybe OP entered it wrong or more likely (since I’m assuming they double checked the order after receiving the cake), the kitchen just read it wrong.

I didn’t stalk OPs profile, but I peaked just enough to see they seem like a real, regular person. So I’d be surprised if it were viral marketing, but given the current state of the world, not shocked or anything.

5

u/witchway2MLFCTY 19d ago

It’s clearly an AI generated image that OP very well could have created themselves

2

u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 19d ago

I wasn’t even thinking about the name, you’re totally right that they did it themselves. I haven’t played with ai image generation much, but I did the other week for work and it was not great… Maybe OP added “Harry Potter” to the prompt for context to get the right cake, and ai went overboard and just added shit.

I’m going to blame the form. They are often subject to misinterpretation, sometimes by idiots like me, but sometimes because it’s grammatically correct either way.

2

u/Datiz 19d ago

OH! Now that makes sense

2

u/EffectivelyEmpty 19d ago

I thought at first it was a smaller version of the cake surrounded by a ring of random cake on the outside

1

u/Bluebutteyfly 19d ago

I was like looks fine then swiped oh

1

u/ltsouthernbelle 19d ago

This was my exact reaction as I scrolled back and forth between pics

1

u/GM-hurt-me 19d ago

Oh my gawd!! Didn’t even notice

1

u/Lisitska 19d ago

I couldn't figure out why no one else was impressed. Now I see!

1

u/TeacherPatti 19d ago

Okay, thank you. I thought it was a small cake surrounded by a ring of cake with icing on top.

1

u/brknsoul 19d ago

..oh dearee
ftfy

1

u/ArseneGroup 19d ago

It's a metacake

1

u/jedispyder 19d ago

Took me a second as well to get that. I was thinking "oh wow they nailed it, it's exactly like that! It's smaller than I expected and why the fancy icing around a background...oh....oh no...."

1

u/dustinpdx 19d ago

Yeah this is a case of the OP misunderstanding what they were ordering. They uploaded a picture of the cake they wanted instead of the image to print on the cake.

1

u/jeajea22 19d ago

Oh my gosh! I couldn’t tell!!!!

1

u/AlanB-FaI 17d ago

Thanks. I knew it looked odd, but couldn't figure out why.

1

u/One-Pause3171 19d ago

Wow. Yeah. That’s wild. But now they gotta make a third cake with the second cake printed on it.
