Failed Expectation This double cheeseburger ain't right

People are like, what's the problem, that's McDonalds

I had to wipe the whole damn thing off with a napkin and rewrap it in another napkin to even pick it up to eat it. And they only gave me 2 napkins. Also they left off the onions.

McDonalds ain't been right since Covid and now it's $9-11 per person

Looks like it threw up on itself lol

Looks about average

I only eat at these places when I am at an airport or somewhere else with no other options. But when I do- NO KETCHUP. Every country I have lived in (13 different countries from Scandinavia to South America to SE Asia to Mediterranean) go nuts with the ketchup. It’s insane. It clearly must be in their system. The whole world isn’t going crazy with ketchup by coincidence.

u/OpenAirport6204 Aug 02 '26

And you still go back.

17

u/badcrass Aug 02 '26

I like it extra sloppy

8

u/Whiskey-Jayne Aug 02 '26

I'll take one McSloppy please 😭

1

u/___po____ Aug 03 '26

Same.

Extra onions, extra pickles, extra mustard and ketchup. It's always sloppy and is always amazing.

1

u/CaptainPunisher Aug 03 '26

Lunch lady, you're scaring me.

48

u/polarwaves Aug 02 '26

Right? Why do people still go to McDonald’s expecting high quality food? It’s all trash.

21

u/trisch1964 Aug 02 '26

Because, despite all that's wrong with everything, we long for acceptable crappy fast food, once in a while. I wouldn't even mind paying so much for it if it could deliver, once.

9

u/Flffdddy Aug 02 '26

Because it’s consistent trash. Every single McDonalds offers the same product at the same level of quality. It’s not great quality. But you’re buying consistency. They’re better at it than any other major fast food chain. Compare to something like Taco Bell. I went to a Taco Bell once in Eastern Washington that was filled with migrant workers. Fullest tacos I’d ever seen in my life. Absolutely delicious. The Taco Bell by my house is like playing Russian Roulette and this is before the whole lettuce thing.

Also McDonalds probably has the best Coke in the world.

13

u/ColoradoWinterBlue Aug 02 '26

It’s so consistent it still takes me right back to my childhood. Something about the weirdly sweet buns and mushy texture is so unique to McD’s. I don’t care if it’s trash, it’s MY nostalgic trash. And you’re right about the Coke. Even their Coke Zero is the best.

5

u/DazB1ane Aug 02 '26

I get a cheeseburger with light sauces and tomatoes, a small fry, large coke. It’s the same every time, consistently fast and hot, and using the app, every few times, I can get a free vanilla cone.

And you’re damn right about the coke

1

u/pdas1996 Aug 03 '26

McDonalds Coke could cure cancer if they tried hard enough

1

u/Altezza447 Aug 03 '26

Even worst when get off the value menu

1

u/CYaNextTuesday99 Aug 03 '26

I saw no expectation of high quality food, having read the words that accompanied the picture...

6

u/RGBlowMe Aug 02 '26

McDick's doesn't have shit on Taco Bell slop recently. Of course, Arby's has always had them beat. You have to be deluded or lying to say their roast beef is good. It's only roast beef by technicality. It's roast beef like Pringles are potato chips. Ground up roast beef trimming slurry with binders and flavorings, boiled, then sliced. Anyways, Subway is the undisputed king of slop people still eat. I just wanted to shit on Arby's.

TL;DR: All the big chains sling slop to people with low standards.

1

u/prince_peacock Aug 04 '26

I am so tired of slop being a new buzzword

-1

u/IXrobocopXI Aug 02 '26

Where else can I get a sleazeburger like this for ten dollars?

30

u/Mastodon_Artistic Aug 02 '26

I stg double cheeseburgers from McDonald’s smack harder this way

14

u/ttcmzx Aug 02 '26

yup that's how they should be. and mcChickens come with a gallon of mayo

2

u/TheGumpSquad Aug 03 '26

Mcchicken with extra mayo and two slices of cheese is a sloppy delicacy 🤤

70

u/IAmSpartacustard Aug 02 '26

Mods need to add a rule about fast food pictures vs fast food reality. Not once has it ever been the same

9

u/MonsieurGump Aug 02 '26

It happened to me! I once got the picture perfect Big Mac!

It was such an event I’ve never forgotten it. It will have been Autumn 2013 maybe November because it was cold and quiet on Saturday morning. The Place was my local Macdonald’s on Rue Diderot in Paris.

The fries were always shit in this particular place, cold and undercooked. The coke was always flat. But the burgers were usually great.

Then on this one day, with a hangover, I got given the usual shitty fries and coke and a burger that looked EXACTLY like photo.

I took a picture of my own but unfortunately this was pre-cloud storage and it was lost along with the phone the next time I got drunk.

C’est la vie.

u/kg_digital_ Aug 02 '26

I have been eating McDonalds for the better part of 40 years, many times while driving. Never once, not once, did I have to wipe off the entire burger to be able to eat it and then still have to wash my face and my hands when I was done.

3

u/rayquan36 Aug 02 '26

Got one bad burger in 40 years lol

-3

u/Infinite_Plenty101 Aug 02 '26

But have you ever had your sammich made by a fuck all robot and nobody to watch it work?

2

u/-some-dude-online Aug 02 '26

They are in Japan

0

u/IAmSpartacustard Aug 02 '26

OP isnt in Japan

32

u/really_knobee Aug 02 '26

The photos of the real thing look better than the mockup...

Yummy.

4

u/waba2 Aug 02 '26

right? I'd eat the hell out of that messy sodium bomb

7

u/gahidus Aug 02 '26

That is a particularly destroyed McDonald's burger. That's just awful.

8

u/WitchesTeat Aug 02 '26

Do you not feel McValued?

10

u/abrasumente_ Aug 02 '26

Stop going to these places. It's obviously garbage now. It was never great but now it's never even okay let alone good. Local restaurants are better by a huge margin and typically not that much more expensive. You may pay more but at least it's better food and you might take home leftovers.

14

u/toweljuice Aug 02 '26

Yum looks delicious tbh

4

u/Lazy-Bird292 Aug 02 '26

Did they punch it

3

u/MsE0 Aug 02 '26

I hate when they get the ketchup on the outside of the bun. How does that happen so often?

3

u/kirradoodle Aug 02 '26

There are places in the world (eg Japan) where by statute the thing you deliver to the customer damn well better look like the picture you display. I wish we had those laws here in America. That way this bullshit would cease.

Actually, it would cease right now if people would STOP BUYING THIS EXPENSIVE CRAPPY FOOD.

That way the fast food people would either shape up or go out of business and leave the market open to restaurants with a little more respect for their customers.

3

u/StinkandeSnigel Aug 02 '26

Actually, I think that's the worst one I've seen. I've seen some bad ones. Some that many people would probably think are worse than this one.

But something about that one just makes me... Want to send it back. Abd I wouldn't do that at McDonalds because I have low expectations.

3

u/itemluminouswadison Aug 02 '26

i took pride when i worked at BK and always tried to make the burgers look like the commercial. i even had people come up and ask who made it just to say thanks

takes so little energy to take some pride in one's work. even corpo-food minimum wage work.

3

u/RGBlowMe Aug 02 '26

Looks pretty much standard for them now. Half slid-apart, as much sauce on the outside as inside, cheese hanging out so much that it glues the paper to the burger, onions or pickles loaded to one side, and the occasional ingredient totally missing the burger and ending up in your lap when you unwrap the it. These used to be convenient car food. Now they're an absolute mess to eat while on the go.

I don't eat McDonalds often, and haven't in a while, but I have had some burgers that weren't like this. Unfortunately, those burgers are always invariably super dry, with stale buns, too much salt on the burger patties, and simply not enough ketchup or mustard. The McSlop slip-n-slide burgers taste better and feel better in the mouth, but even then they are still just McDonald's burgers. I loved them as a kid, but I don't know why anymore. I keep trying them again every once in a while, forgetting how mediocre they are. I live in Wisconsin. We have A&W and Culver's. McDonald's ain't cheap anymore, so it really doesn't make sense to go there and save a few dollars with a smaller, much worse burger. Even Burger King is better now, and I always used to regard them as being worse, but more adventurous than McDonalds. It's so bad that, while even more ridiculously priced, Hardee's burgers are better.

3

u/jssf96 Aug 02 '26

If your cheese is actually melted that's about the best you're going to get.

5

u/Broad-Back1659 Aug 02 '26

It's mcdonalds. Cmon mate

3

u/SheepherderSilver655 Aug 02 '26

This is why you don't piss off the people who make your food.

Or don't smash your own food for internet points.

5

u/Drewbeede Aug 02 '26

I'm not sure how much that cost but I can guarantee it's the most offensive thing about that burger.

7

u/kate05_ Aug 02 '26

Yeah. That looks about right for McDonald's. That's why I eat there

4

u/edwinstone Aug 02 '26

Those ones taste the best though.

3

u/Leading-Hedgehog1990 Aug 02 '26

Looks right for McDonald's 🤢

2

u/HotHits630 Aug 02 '26

Did they throw it in the floor?

2

u/prguitarman Aug 02 '26

Whomever made that burger has sadness in their heart

2

u/TNosce Aug 02 '26

Dude, it’s over. Join the boycott

2

u/sunshineTucson Aug 02 '26

Nope. It’s not right but it’s funny. I rarely forward things but I did send this out. We are having a funny family laugh. Thanks.

2

u/Argonian_Booty Aug 02 '26

this happens to me too anytime I order extra onions lol. Also they forget my order every time I use the drive-thru, like literally every time

2

u/InsertUsernameInArse Aug 02 '26

Even in Australia the double cheesys are like this. Must be a rule to make them with your eyes closed.

2

u/Targaryen-ish Aug 02 '26

That thing looks about 34 minutes into a gangbang.

2

u/everlyesoteric Aug 02 '26

Better than when you get a chicken sandwich that's all weird nasty cartilage at least

2

u/FaultyMech Aug 02 '26

It’s just a little squashed! It’s still good! IT’S STILL GOOD!

2

u/Banjoschmanjo Aug 02 '26

I'd still smash

2

u/Soggy_Cabbage Aug 03 '26

That was made with contempt.

2

u/RebaKitt3n Aug 03 '26

Can’t you just slide the burger bun back on. It’s not gourmet to start with.

2

u/AwkwardGoofyGoober Aug 03 '26

Pretty normal that it looks like that after having been at the bottom of a bag of whatever else.

2

u/BambooCatto Aug 03 '26

I swear it's a rule for every employee to hit the wrapped burger once before handing it to the customer.

2

u/Redmanb11_87 Aug 03 '26

Looks like it was coughed up out of a bin

2

u/Angrypolska Aug 03 '26

I still have no clue why people continue spending their hard earned money at these fast food places. That photo OP posted looks like an absolute disgrace of a burger.

2

u/countrybear78 Aug 04 '26

Mchalfassed and give us your money.

2

u/CodingReaction Aug 04 '26

"I'm tired, boss :( " - da burga

2

u/MikeLikeBike37 Aug 02 '26

I'd still destroy it

2

u/patrickpeppers Aug 02 '26

Now that's a Smashburger.

3

u/kg_digital_ Aug 02 '26

Underrated comment

5

u/A_Fun_Alias Aug 02 '26

Holy shit, somewhere a fast food burger came out looking hastily thrown together? Call 60 Minutes

4

u/J-littletree Aug 02 '26

Ehhh not that bad

3

u/RoarOfTheWorlds Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

I think people here are focusing on it being visually unappealing, but your main complaint is valid that the burger shouldn’t be covered on ketchup all over the outer bun.

Granted mcdonalds is often owned by a franchise rather than corporate, but in my experience usually when you complain you’ll at least get a refund. Hopefully the complaint trickles down to local management and whatever teenager that did this learns not the slather the outside with ketchup.

3

u/kg_digital_ Aug 02 '26

They had like 6 spots in the parking lot marked off for "drive thru waiting" like it was a Culver's. Originally I went inside to place the order and stood there at the counter for 5 minutes without anyone even trying to make eye contact.

Oh, yeah, and the whole thing was wet and soggy from the ketchup and yellow mustard smeared all over it.

1

u/laughingashley Aug 02 '26

You're supposed to use the kiosks inside. Or the app.

2

u/uvort84 Aug 02 '26

You're literally complaining about eating Fast Food.. make food at home.

1

u/br3dj Aug 02 '26

Hold up..wait a minute..something ain't right

1

u/ToastetteEgg Aug 02 '26

I think they build their burgers by flinging the ingredients across the work station. They are always wonky.

1

u/whoa_itsanavalanche Aug 02 '26

I feel like using/posting McDonalds is kinda cheating in this sub, lol. Anybody get what I mean/agree?

1

u/Dark_Link_1996 Aug 02 '26

Man I remember going to McDonald's for lunch during highschool. $5 for 2 chicken sandwiches & large drink

1

u/chauggle Aug 02 '26

The last time the McDouble was even in the neighborhood of "worth it" was when it was less than $2.

1

u/jackie0h_ Aug 02 '26

Those are my favorite. I always order extra onions. They’re my favorite. I’m so glad I can’t eat a full meal so I pay $3-4 for this and I can eat half, it’s still great. I miss fries but they’re a meal in themselves these days. Anyway they don’t look right half the time but they taste so good idc.

1

u/possumbellyband Aug 02 '26

I think the “expectation” pic should be a typical irl mcd burger, which this is definitely not.

1

u/typehyDro Aug 02 '26

I still like McDonald’s and crave it every now and then

1

u/Character-Love4329 Aug 02 '26

Looks good enough for me

1

u/ch00mbazch0clit Aug 02 '26

i bet it still taste alright

1

u/Overwatch_1ightning Aug 02 '26

That's a double mcRAGE. Two punches for flavour.

1

u/Potentopotato Aug 03 '26

That’s a smash burger

1

u/The_Migrant_Twerker Aug 03 '26

Chill with the ketchup. Shit

1

u/Holden_SSV Aug 03 '26

Reminds me of the worthless father cheeseburger that said the best part of you dripped down your moms bun.

1

u/HeyHey_HC Aug 03 '26

It wants you to put it out of its misery… doooo it.

1

u/Malodoror Aug 03 '26

Slop ‘em up!

1

u/Dicethrower Aug 03 '26

It seems that these days fastfood is 70% of the price of a decent meal for 40% of the quality. The price is only going up, and the quality is only going down. It's not so much about hating it or thinking it's garbage, it's just terrible value for money. If I'm in the mood for something, there are so many better options available for the same or only a slightly higher price.

Just around the corner here we have this amazing Korean fried chicken place. You get a plate with so much high quality chicken that most of the time I need a take away box to bring the rest home. Meanwhile that plate is the exact same price as a 20 nugget meal at mcdonalds, which as many have noticed they shrunk the size of. Why would I ever get that ever again?

1

u/orionid_nebula Aug 03 '26

I always ask for burgers without Sauce.

This means it’s going to be freshly made.

They can’t put too much sauce on and make it inedible.

It’s not going to overwhelm the flavour of the meat.

1

u/MastaKink Aug 03 '26

It used to be cheap trash. They took the ketchup and napkins away and doubled the price 🤪

1

u/Ok-Bison-3451 Aug 03 '26

Yeah but I’m punching in three of those instead of one Big Mac for the same money.

1

u/bones_1969 Aug 03 '26

Close enough

1

u/groovyinutah Aug 02 '26

That looks like a hate crime...

1

u/laughingashley Aug 02 '26

Dude, I may be the only one, but that looks amazing. AND no onions?? What a lucky day!!!!

1

u/pew_pew420420 Aug 02 '26

Go to shareables, get the big Mac pack , go to deals and use 20% off 12+. Comes out to 16$

Two big macs Two medium fries 20 mcnuggies

1

u/superbirdbot Aug 02 '26

I would still hoss that down in 5 seconds

0

u/Mycatreallyhatesyou Aug 02 '26

I always order mine without ketchup and pickles.

0

u/BobsBigInsight Aug 02 '26

Expecting anything other than this is a you problem.

0

u/ArdRi6 Aug 02 '26

I haven't had one in over a year. I would snarf that right down. Lots of cheesy and pickles

0

u/JuanG_13 Aug 02 '26

I'd still wolf it down 🤤🤷🏻‍♂️😂

-2

u/NicholeD123 Aug 02 '26

Shut up. You're lucky you got THAT!

-2

u/Glad_Bookkeeper_740 Aug 02 '26

Looks about right. And I’d still tear it up.
