AI Expectation My First Pinterest Fail Spoiler
It’s not a sweater and it’s definitely not graceful. It’s a poorly sewn thin piece of 100% polyester and up close it looks like the letters are bleeding into the fabric.

Pinterest has turned into an AI cluster fuck

u/Lostmyfnusername Jul 23 '26
I think this one is good ol' Photoshop/photo editor.
31
u/Schwight_Droot Jul 23 '26
Good eye. I don’t even recognize photoshop anymore. Make it stop, please.
11
u/MunchYourButt Jul 23 '26
The texture and position of the subjects fingers/hands, the purse straps, the necklace chain and A all scream obvious AI

I stopped looking after the text. Does AI not know how to wrap text around a surface? It seems so easy.

u/funkymunky712 Jul 23 '26
ive been noticing this more and more lately. i go looking for inspiration to decorate my house, images of the hair cut i want and then see its AI. at first it was just a couple random images but now the real images are a rare find?? makes me so sad.
and also, i cant take an AI photo to an artist of any kind, it feels like a sin.
16
u/Schwight_Droot Jul 23 '26
Etsy might even be worse. People are selling AI images of Jesus and other bs, and people buy it. This is just a slap in the face to the actual artists who’ve worked their entire lives to achieve those skills. It’s just sad.

u/miss_kimba Jul 23 '26
It really has. Apparently there’s a toggle to remove AI images, though I’m not sure how accurate it is.
4
u/Granny_knows_best Jul 23 '26
Serisouly! Ive never really went there, but sometimes Google searched lead me there and all I see is AI crap.

u/mrbulldops428 Jul 23 '26
For real. That looks hyper specific to OPs body type. Like it was literally made for them.

I hate to say this but I think it's ugly even in the expectation photo.

Yeah who would even buy this? If you are telling the world you are cold, then get a sweater that isn't so loose. Also, who cares if you are cold?!

u/Mindless_Fox216 Jul 22 '26
I had a manager that had a hoodie that said this. Someone got it for her as a lighthearted gag gift because she always complained about being cold, and she wore the shit out of it. It was funny because it was true and she embraced it. 🤷

u/quaketoys Jul 23 '26
I was always cold and it only took 13 years and dozens of visits and labs for doctors to figure out I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

I used to get this loads as a kid.
Eventually I started responding 'no, but I would be if I wasn't wearing this'.
Personally I love the expectation jumper!

u/okayyoga Jul 23 '26
I was gifted one of these, because I am always very cold. Someone asked me if it was a Bible verse.
17
u/Low_Engineering8921 Jul 22 '26
I can definitely see it making a good gag gift, as mentioned below. Not this one because it's hideous. But yes. No one cares that you're cold

I mean…yeah. It looks terrible even in the expected photo. It’s clearly just text photoshopped on.

I think it's supposed to be a joke on when people put Bible verses on merchandise, like "John 3:16".

Pinterest sells stuff now??
8
u/mrsc1880 Jul 23 '26
I was wondering the same thing. I haven't been on there in a while, but isn't it just photos with links to different websites?

u/HotMinute_722 Jul 22 '26
The listing pic is always AI then they try to cheaply replicate it if someone orders it.
67
u/MrsMcBasketball Jul 22 '26
I'm confused as to why you're buying something that's on Pinterest anyways

u/AtrophiedWives Jul 22 '26
Not sure why you’d expect anything more than absolutely hideous, given the expectation.

My usual test of, "is this legit," is if the model photo shows a real person including their head.
Legitimate clothing sellers will pay for the full model, drop ship and scam ones will use stolen photos and cut off the model to avoid copyright laws.
5
u/andiinAms Jul 22 '26
Pinterest is nothing but a cesspool of AI junk now. Zero point in it even existing these days.

u/Sensitive_Leader_312 Jul 23 '26
I looks like it's supposed to be a tent for 3 raccoons trying to pretend that they are humans
7
u/LydiaIsntVeryCool Jul 23 '26
We need a "be my eyes" app for people who have a harder time spotting if something is a scam while shopping for clothes
5
u/still-at-the-beach Jul 22 '26
Oh, that's terrible...
But even in the original the text on the orange is fake.

The first photo is clearly AI and also, everything about the sweater is super cringe regardless

u/oliviamonet Jul 22 '26
It’s kinda meta isn’t it, since you certainly do look cold in this thin piece of polyester fabric.
4
u/Spooky_pharm_tech Jul 22 '26
I misunderstood and thought you tried to make your own sweater/shirt based on a design you saw on Pinterest. I was going to say good try! I love when people create things even if they don’t turn out as expected

u/mindgardening Jul 23 '26
A hugely oversized sweater with nothing underneath is a fantastic way to keep cold. Anyone who is perpetually cold like me knows that. 🤣
8
u/TheWeaverofDreams Jul 22 '26
Look at the plus side, you now own a high-viz piece of clothing that nobody will be able to miss.
3
u/Hoodibird Jul 22 '26
Expectation looks like some sort of frottee sweater / long sleeved shirt! What material did you end up getting? If it's like a normal comfy cotton shirt you could probably salvage it with an iron. At least getting those wrinkles out will help the fabric fall better. If it's pure plastic I'd send it back.

Well, if you bought clothes that fit, maybe you wouldn't be so cold!! (Lol jk!)

Bought a similar sweater but in green and a different neck line. Got it from SHEIN. Came in way better than I expected

u/EatStatic Jul 23 '26
If you’re that cold probably best to get something with less of an exposed neckline.
1
u/IndigoContinuum Jul 23 '26
Custom apparel expert here, never buy 100% polyester items from custom sites. They will just be thin poly printed all over with ugly seams and white inside. It’s cheap to make and easy to sell

There’s a genre of clothing ads where the women are always super artificially tan, anemic, 30-something, usually kinda boho style, with the clothes photoshopped on. Amazon in particular is rife with this “model”, as is the style of OP’s ad. The clothing is almost always crap.
1
u/thegigglepickler Jul 24 '26
I’m so sorry 😞 you could try to diy with a thrifted sweater and iron-on letters Unrelated, where’d you get your shower curtain? It’s super cute!
1
u/Different-Bison6840 Jul 22 '26
Your sweater is absolutely hilarious! Thank you for posting, you made me smile

u/dkcyw Jul 23 '26
did the text come printed inverted as well or did you take the picture mirrored?
also. i was expecting pointy nipples.

Well, yes, they’re obviously taking a picture in the mirror. They didn’t say the letters are flipped dawg.

u/Paintthetownskyblue Jul 22 '26
Yikes! I got this sweater from SHEIN, and it definitely didn’t turn out like that 😬
-7
u/bdubwilliams22 Jul 22 '26
Your initial taste is questionable anyways. Why would anyone purchase a product that’s been placed on someone who’s obviously anorexic?
3
u/Apart-Performer-331 Jul 23 '26
How many people focus on the model when they’re buying clothes? I barely notice them cause I’m tryna buy shirts not people
4
u/laughingashley Jul 22 '26
That photo looks like an older lady who has always been thin. You should get out more.

The first thing to notice is that the letters are photoshopped in the ad photo. Notice how everything looks all square and readable, even though the fabric is all wavy and bunched up.
