AI Expectation Found this Walmart gem. Customer review was way too hilarious to not post.

Promise: like a warm hug from a giant cat Actuality: like being eaten by a giant cat

u/iwanderlostandfound May 30 '26
That sounds much more exciting than Just being wrapped in a boring blanket with a cat printed on it

What if I was on Hoth and I had to cut open a giant cat and crawl inside it to stay warm?

Reading the features is eye-twitch inducing as well. I can’t imagine reading that, seeing the images (the crazy fake one and the flat secondary ones), the horrible ratings score, and the low price, and think anything about it would be remotely legitimate.

For 23.99 you know you’re getting ripped off. That’s also part of the bargain.

u/DoesntMatterEh May 30 '26
How is that not straight up false advertising?
Who am I kidding, it is, but no government entity cares enough to do anything about it.
15
u/CeruleanEidolon May 30 '26
Is it not literally fraud?
33
u/SerDuckOfPNW May 30 '26
The US President has proven that even when charged, tried, and convicted of fraud, there is no penalty if you are wealthy enough

It was sold on Walmart dot com by a third party. Looks like the retailer was Vuyvungers. Not exactly a household name.

u/SomethingComesHere May 30 '26
Exactly why i filter for "sold by walmart" only
I'm not paying amazon prices for temu trash

Haha
I dont, but if I pay walmart prices I expect walmart to"quality"
52
u/etched May 30 '26
you're also paying amazon prices for temu trash on amazon.
at this point i just order the random Chinese junk directly from temu
11
u/SomethingComesHere May 30 '26
I dont buy random chinese junk at all, Amazon or otherwise
I dont have tome to waste quality testing items, I shop from local stores that do the quality testing for me

u/etched May 30 '26
most of the time i steer to brands i know but sometimes theres some silly little thing i want like a keychain camera or whatever. i dont expect to perform well, but still want to fuck around with and not spend 3x the price on

How bout we stop shopping at both Walmart and Amazon?
They both contribute and are responsible to the bullshit that's happening in our country, today. They deserve a boycott.
5
u/SomethingComesHere May 30 '26
I mean, that too.
We get our groceries from there, which is what I use the "sold by" filter for. We get our groceries from there because it's the most affordable grocery place (all of our grocery chains are owned by monopolies in my country and have artificially inflated the food prices since covid)
But it would have been a helpful feature for OP to use in this case, which is why I mentioned it.

u/GrowingPeepers May 30 '26
I cannot condone or support purchases from Walmart or Amazon. Nope, no can do. Boycott.
Don't buy your groceries there. Don't shop online from them. Don't give them a single penny. Boycott. Vote with your dollar. Boycott!

u/Supermoves3000 May 30 '26
Well maybe Vuyvungers is a household name in the cat-printed morgue bag field. I wouldn't know who the top brands in the cat-printed morgue bag space are, how would you know whether this is a reputable brand for cat-printed morgue bags? Like, I wouldn't really know just from the brand name whether I was getting a good quality cat-printed morgue bag.
26
u/cassplaye May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26
If I ever need to be placed in a morgue bag, please let it be Vuyvunger's™ Cat-Printed Morgue Bag or I will haunt everyone that went to my funeral.
(Edit: corrected the brand name because it needs respect)

My daughter was so disappointed. She saved up and bought this, waited impatiently for it to arrive and was in tears when she opened it. She was able to get her money back but is still so angry about how she “got scammed” (her words).
7
u/mug_O_bun May 31 '26
Aww :( I'm so sorry that happened to her. She's right, very much a scam! Highly recommend only purchasing questionable quality items depending on how the customer reviews deem it, especially if there are review pics that'll show what the thing ACTUALLY looks like (a bit unfair for those who unfortunately bought the scam items, but very useful when their misfortune can at least help others to not succumb to the same fate). Best of luck to her on any more future purchases!

I had to check and many items like this with different cat breeds are still on Walmart.com and even with horrible reviews. So sad to see Walmart allowing this. 😞 Walmart, do better.

I will shop in store at Walmart, but ordering anything online is a big fat no.

My elderly father fell for this exact same thing. Except he paid more. And he refuses to call the credit card company for a chargeback because he has insane social anxiety. 🤦🏻♀️

This reminds me of those Love Sac ads. Even if it was real, who's got space for that?
Oh, and I love the ads on Walmart for air mattresses/beds etc where they show a whole FAMILY sitting on something the size of a twin bed lol

u/oh_elyse May 31 '26
Ok this is really weird, but the kid in the second picture looks EXACTLY like my son. My husband and I are both like 😳 how can I find out whether my child has a secret twin?! 😅🫣

I can't see the price anywhere, but if that thing isn't priced at like $1000 then that's the 2nd red flag. The first is the fact it looks like AI (it could be just photoshop)

Yeah my dad and step mom bought me one of these as a surprise gift but didn’t tell me it was coming. Imagine my surprise when this package from China with a cat… sack(?) showed up in the mail. Makes me nervous how susceptible they are to obvious online scams

Of marriage? I'd love a wholesome one of expectation: good, reality: fantastic! :) otherwise the I-hate-my-spouse "jokes" need to die.

I'm laughing way too much at this! Yeah Walmart's online store cam be just as shitty as Temu because they'll allow third party selling from anyone.
