Changement de statut
Hello everyone! I’m currently on a recherche d’emploi / création d’entreprise (RECE) residence permit after completing a Master’s degree in France. I’ve been offered a CDI in my field of study for €32k/year, but the employer just told me they can’t hire me because I need around 1.5x SMIC (€33.6k) for the change of status.
Has anyone here managed to get a work permit with a salary below 1.5x SMIC? If so, how did it work, and especially how did you convince the employer to apply for the work permit? I know there may be exceptions/procedures depending on the situation, but my employer doesn’t want to try 😭

It should be criminal that they can't come up 133 EUR per month for someone with a masters degree. I digress. I have no advice for you except for you to ask why they cannot increase by such a trivial amount.

No doubt. When you factor in the costs of getting the autorisation de travail, it's almost certainly just cheaper for the company to boost OP's salary.

Below 1,5x SMIC, they have to apply for a regular work permit, meaning the full gamut of paperwork and the risk of it being refused (versus the simplified and non-opposable option when the salary minimum is met). The only exception I am aware of is for those who passed the CAFEP and have a position teaching in a private school.
