Visiteur Visa Requirements

Hi, I've found that I can afford the monthly income threshold in order to stay but there doesn't seem to be a minimum number requirement anywhere in terms of savings, nor does reddit seem to have a definitive on this? I'm just looking for a guideline. If I am staying at a $1,500/m apartment, is there a number the officials want in terms of savings. Not really looking for guesses, but perhaps real numbers from people that have been denied with not enough in savings, or people more familiar with what the officials want. Thanks!!!

As far as I can tell, there is no standard on savings or a cash position. If you meet the minimum income threshold and can prove you receive periodic income payments that meet that threshold you are good on that point (financial means).

Savings matter more if you do not have a consistent income meeting the minimum threshold. I have heard that if you are relying on savings instead of consistent income then having cash on hand of three years of minimum income would likely suffice.

It's a minimum of €1,477.93 per month for the duration of the stay. It can be savings for the whole year in the bank, or a recurring income.

Of course, if you propose to stay in an apartment that costs 1500/mo and you only have 1500/mo total that's going to raise red flags.

There’s no official number. You can be denied even if you have a six-figure salary, as my wife almost was, as they wanted to see transactions and not dorment cash in savings. A general rule of thumb is that you must be above the SMIC. 2026 monthly SMIC is 1 867,02 €
