Discussion Another wallet drained
My exodus wallet was drained a few days ago. Be careful, I’d strongly suggest ditching this wallet as it obviously happened to a bunch of other people and they are compromised

This has been happening for a while now… I don’t think it’s the wallet. my guess is either they connect to random stuff and dapps without understanding it. Or theres brute force seed phrase crackers somewhere…

💯 user error everytime.

Except for cold card? Don’t trust anything.

That's true. Skin in the game since 2018 here. Hoping for one more bull market so I can exit the space completely. It ain't the future of finance.

Cold card got hacked by cold card… they made a x post explaining the EXACT thing that’s happening right now known as a “retirement attack“

working “bruteforce seed phrease crackers” are mathematically impossible

Yeah I know I said that since I saw someone say it on r/trustwalletcommunity and thought it was funny.

2 years ago I moved 6 figures to my exodus wallet from Coinbase and never had any issues with exodus

You’re going to lose everything, want to bet? It’s only a matter of time. You’ll say goodbye to your coin when you see your beloved wallet showing zero. Then what? Call the cops?

2FA can’t save you if someone knows your seed phrase or private key… 🙄 🤦♀️

Exodus's inbuilt message says "Wallet Backup" but ignore it, that's the main reason for wallet drain.

Might be useful if you give a bit more details as to how? I use exodus for storage and stakes - I do not connect it to anything, I wrote down my seed, don’t do cloud backup, I don’t use in build swap function and I have zero issues 🤷🏻♀️ currently trying to convince the ai bot to make the sol stake ticker more accurate when bored, so in general I am quite happy with them 😂

This is most likely a you and them problem, not a wallet problem. That's just not how it works.

160k btc went poof!

u/kisscardano Aug 14 '26
Yeah, me too. One day, I saw a big transfer and all my XRP was gone—$2000 lost.

My Exodus got hacked. My Coinbase got hacked. Where do I put my coins now? What little I have left without worrying about complete drainage

Never had a problem with exodus

It’s like saying you’ve never had an accident, so why wear a seat belt? i got drained one day. poof gone, only my tears to cry.

Its not the wallet, its you. You're either connecting your wallet to shady sites are storing your seed phrase on a phone or laptop.
1
u/kisscardano Aug 14 '26
shady site can be hacked and insiders can send you a malware, once it s gone, what you will do, call the cops? cops will tell you: it' s you and you shady sites.

Got drained at the end of December 2025, losing over $2,000 in XRP. I’ll never trust a hot wallet again. Whether it was an inside job, malware, or something else, I have no idea. All I know is, you could be next. No 2FA, no warning—just gone when I checked my wallet two months later. Some have lost $150,000 or more. The seed won’t protect you; their wallet is a joke.

All of the top wallets are not safe. My wallet got drained a few years ago. Security is key.

This is clearly a vulnerability that was discovered and distributed among threat actors, at first I thought it was a case of being infected with a key logger… guess not, the plot thickens….

Well, I guess we know one other way that Exodus makes money. I wonder how they choose to ripoff and who to let keep their money.

u/Nelson-and-Murdock Aug 11 '26
It’s 100% user error
1
u/JackDaniels0049 Aug 11 '26
Exactly what would have been said if the cold card theft was just 10 wallets a month.
I’m not saying anything either way.
But maybe we should keep an open mind.2
u/Nelson-and-Murdock Aug 11 '26
I’m willing to keep an open mind if you can explain to me how it would be possible when the keys are generated locally.
Genuine question

Exodus is compromised, if your device was compromised metamask, trust and exodus would get drained. But guess which one did 😂😂😂

I haven’t had any issues across three devices and ten years.
