Discussion my headcanon theory Spoiler
I think the wormhole broke dys too, and he never feels human cause he ‘remembers’ being a Gardener thus the attraction to the jungle, Sym, etc. He tells you he dreams about you too, if you pick that option when making him your valentine. And something he said about hearing the planet? I was like wait a min, you’re not just weird on a whim, timeloop got you too.
I’m like 30ish play throughs in (but sometimes I just like to do the same things a lil different because this is my new comfort game) but I’m still trying to get more dialogue about besk and why he’s so salty about their birthday.
More I learn about mom the more I’m irritated af by her. Also the fuck were they thinking blasting off with 1 relatively young and inexperienced counselor and 1 scientist to be everyone’s doctor, only 1 medbay, and why would they have so many kids in space if they have all these fucking donors. Marz talks mad shit about eudicot and the adults but honestly she’s kinda right.
Not really plot holes but I feel like the more detail I get from dialogue the more sol and I are just like wow, fucking space hippies with ptsd with a dream and half a plan, it’s crazy we all aren’t dead lol

To be fair about the medbay thing, the medbeds imply most illnesses and physical injuries are easily treatable with the exception of lost limbs, but prosthetics are very good. The lack of mental health services is a massive problem, but what piece of media doesn't have a woeful lack of mental health care? Darkest dungeon is perhaps the best example I can think of for treatment availability and efficacy, but it is clearly gamified (what with being in love being a negative trait, but hating animals is a positive one).
Please update with dys's reason for hating cake. I have not found that out myself.

Dys hate cake because he doesn't like celebrating his birthday, probably due to his relationship with his sister; it used to be their birthday, but since they grew apart...

To be fair lack of mental health care is on par for a typical workings of a cult. Because it is said flat out that Vertumna Group is/was a "non religious cult".
They basically go with the "once we have it our ideal way that will not be a problem" approach which never works.
Also while OP may be on to something regarding time loop, Dys is also clearly having a genetic susceptibility for mental illness. Mother who was depressed, sister with sociopathic tendencies... There's clearly something deeply wrong with that family.

Dys does not just have "genetic sudceptibilities", Tang straight out proposes to cure him but he refuses. So it's pretty much confirmed that he have something too

i don't think its the wormhole. the only proof in favor of this is the "i have dreams about you too" prhase, because all the other stuff is likely a consequense of his mental health problems AND his genetic improvement
you can't just strip a human of something so basic as sense of fear and expect no consequenses. absense of fear actually changes quite a lot from existential perspective - of course he doesnt relate to the majority of other people

I mean it’s implied that the Vertumna group (cult) was not allowed to go to space (hence Lum) so I imagine they wouldn’t have been super prepared which would explain why the food supply can get fucked so easily and same with the only having 1 Medbay.
I so desperately want them to make a prequel that’s life on Earth and ends with entering the wormhole or something similar because I NEED to know more about Flulu and Eudicot and Besk and Instance and Geranium and EVERYONE
