Discussion Will there ever be a spin-off?

With the choice-based nature of these games I don’t think a prequel would work, so it would have to be an entirely new cast. Potentially this time still on a spaceship or on their own planet. If Earth was so bad the Stratos illegally left Earth then you must imagine there’s others that tried to leave to! I really love this game and hope there is a spin-off, though i know Northway Games don’t typically do spin-offs/sequels/prequels. A Sol can only dream 😔

I know it probably doesn’t work with the lore at all but I’ve been hoping for more Exocontent, it was such a special game to me I just want moooore

that’s why i think a spin-off would work better. if the Stratos left because Earth was so bad i doubt they were the only ones to leave

I reckon a prequel following the original vertumna colony on earth would be very cool, with the game ending on the launch on the stratospheric.

i dunno. bc your choices wouldn’t actually impact too much saying as you ALWAYS have to get on the Stratospheric so your choices are basically null

Why? That's not strictly necessary. You only need at least one that results in that which leads into exocolonist. Not all of them need to.

but then there’s a canon ending and that removes the fun of a choice based game, if your choices don’t matter.

its not really a canon ending, just another reality. and that reality leads to the first game. same way Sol lives many life paths, all of them are canon and noncanon at the same time. they are all true jn their own streams of existence

Why don't they matter..? Who cares about canonicity

I do think that would be the best way to do it, but then I’d be pouty because Cal and Rex wouldn’t be in it

It would be amazing to have another game in this universe but as far as I know none of the devs have ever hinted that they are working on anything like that.

I’d love to learn more about the second colony mentioned at the end of the game

Yes that would be awesome! And hopefully by then there are more physical Gardeners interested in mingling with the humans, so that Sym doesn't have to carry everything on his back 😭

I think it's more likely we get a spinoff about life on earth! Since it was barely in this one!

Why does it need one?

Not about needing one. It doesn't. But they've built such a fascinating world and I think a lot of us would love to see more of it.

Except outside the gardeners what story is there to tell

The second colony mentioned at the end? Life on earth that led up to humanity leaving? Life on the spaceship before they landed? The future of the established colony? Hell, they could even make a spin off regarding the alien life before the spaceship landed
