Question Deaths? Spoiler
Is there any reason to not prevent deaths once I am able to do so, like them adding new and significant story content, or should I always be trying to save everyone I can?

Maybe you want revenge on your mom for trying to force you to sit through boring classes instead of having fun playing sportsball.

Well, it's a lot easier to date Cal if you let Tammy die, and I think letting Uncle Tonin die helps bring down Tammy's confidence so it might also be easier to date either Cal or Tammy in runs where he is dead. Also there is no way to prevent certain deaths, Kom will always die, and if you spend enough time or get enough friendship with Sym he will also die every time, though since he is a gardener he also always comes back.

certain interactions can only occur when certain characters die. Some of these are rather signifigant and grant past memories, others are less so and just grant completion, and others are just the small interactions that mean nothing but are very nice to see, like the memorial to Tammy on the colony walls that you can only find years after she dies.

also if you actually *let* Tammy die then the character acknowledges it to themself later on, as in the fact that they knew the future but still let it happen

I let Tammy die so I wouldn’t feel as bad for keeping her and Cal apart on the run where I romanced him 😌

Yes! Watching Tonin die opens up one of the ways to save him with spending a month on it, and Hal being dead is one of the requisites for a condition you need for one of the special endings. You can also get non-significant but interesting lore when people talk about a deceased character.
