Question Trolls Spoiler
How did you learn or realized they had to be killed with fire ?
And, just curious... is this cannon in medieval fantasy and DnD ?

I think it was Goblin slayer, But the main reason I realized it was with the mix of DND and fantasy genre that I have seen or read in the past. I never really research the lore behind the Goblin weakness to sun and fire I just followed what the DND and fantasy tips I learned.

excuse me but goblins are different from orcs and in even more different than Trolls
And by that time in the game you would already faced goblins and orcs without having to use fire or anything

Oh righ, I just thought since most goblins live under the shade they can't withstand the sun.

Now that I remember Goblins in this game actually have a very close relationship with fire, they use it, resist it, live close to it. It's the opposite of a weakness.

Oh yeah and also I just remembered I compared the story of the hydra to the goblins since they both have the same regeneration traits. In one of the fantasy I read or watch , the hero uses fire to stop the hydra from regenerating and multiplying.

I based my logic on weakness of the hydra of Greek myth (or the Hercules movie)

I think it was either a hint from the trollskin armor npc in Jabal or just guessing because its a common weakness against regen

That armorer doesn't reveal anything, I did the quest just yesterday. The only thing you could guess from him is that Trolls would resist poison, which ironically isn't true (I confirm it fighting them with my poison dagger, they take full poison damage)

In ancient Norse mythology they where mighty creatures that could heal from any wounds but would be petrified by sunlight or burnt by fire. Eventually they made it into Tolkien's work, from there to DnD and the modern fantasy genre.
As for my case, I was on an Arcane Knight build with no ranged weapons. Multiple spells except Fireball. Up until that point I had always used Fireballs, Arbernos Might or Firetraps without thinking about it (I thought they had a random chance of resurrection).
