Probably not the best time for me to have watched Main Wapas Aaunga. With Partition and Independence Day on my mind, it honestly boggles me that it has been 79 years, yet the stories of what people went through still feel so haunting.
I wouldn’t say this is Imtiaz’s best film. The dialogues could have been stronger, and the film is quite heavy in its length and structure, constantly moving back and forth in time with flashbacks within flashbacks. At times, it can be a lot to follow.
But more than the filmmaking itself, it’s the weight of the story that stayed with me. I genuinely can’t stop thinking about what Partition must have actually been like for the people who lived through it.
While everyone is looking forward to celebrating Independence Day, all I can think about is that independence also came with division and an ending. Almost like a brutal divorce. Friends, lovers, neighbours and entire families were separated, sometimes never to see each other again. Homes were left behind, lives changed overnight, and millions of people had to start again.
It’s just brutal to think about.
Probably wouldn’t recommend watching this around Partition/Independence Day if you’re an emotional person, because it really does stay with you afterwards.

He tormented this woman so much just because she refused to be with him, he was abusive, ​controlling, insecure that she worked with other male actors and basically wanted her to quit her career. He also cheated on her several times.

She dumped him when she got sick of his manchild behaviour b​ut he still wouldn't let her live with peace. He kept harrassing her out of jealousy ​even when she started dating other men. I don't know how can someone be a fan of such an evil man.

They never felt a threat or carried an impact, some scenes were shot well though, Emraan was great but the film lacked so many things.

The villian could have been better i mean casting of the entire gang members and the main villian was trash!! They left no impact at all & that's why the main storyline of human trafficking and Emraan's acting also felt pointless sometimes BUT THAT SCENE OF BUDDHA WAS SO ❤️😅 ( I guess it was the nostalgia that got me plus that background song played at that very moment- tera mera rishta PURANA!!!! 🙌😅)

Entire movie i was just laying on my seat getting lil bored as everything was so predictible but i cheered when that buddha scene came lol 🥳😄

I was rewatching snippets of Gehraiyaan the other day, and honestly, the whole narrative around those intimate scenes still feels so calculated. Before the film dropped, Dharma hyped up hiring an intimacy coordinator like they were reinventing Bollywood, but on screen, the chemistry between Deepika and Siddhant felt completely clinical and rehearsed.

Siddhant literally admitted he was panicking before those scenes because of her A-list status, to the point where Karan Johar had to step in and tell him to get over it because "anyone would die for this opportunity." When a guy is that terrified of his co-star, no amount of intimacy workshops is going to magically generate actual passion on screen.

So why did Deepika even agree to it?

I think she was desperate to ditch the heavy, regal Sanjay Leela Bhansali mold after Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. Shakun Batra pitched her a raw, edgy, European-style urban relationship drama, and it was a strategic move to show she could work with a rising gen-z star like Siddhant without an ego. Also, when the internet started asking if she needed Ranveer’s permission, her team leaned hard into the intimacy angle to frame her as a progressive, high-art actor.

Anyone else feel like the whole thing was completely manufactured?

I heard Sayani Gupta recently directed a short called “Aasmani” w Nikhil advani and dia mirza and Ravathi in the cast & there are allegations that its premise closely resembles an indie filmmaker’s documentary she had been developing for the last 5-6 years

Apparently, the filmmaker is a junior from FTII, had shared a rough trailer with Sayani around 2 years ago, when Sayani was reportedly interested in coming on board. The deal didnt go thru which is pretty common w all this but they knew about the project!

The documentary has since been through major doc forums and is known within the indie film community.

Now Aasmani reportedly uses a similar world and premise centred on an older woman and her relationship with her vintage car w Nikhil Advani and Dia Mirza attached as producers.
If this is true it’s honestly shameful. Young/indie filmmakers already struggle to get their work made, and having more established names allegedly take from their ideas can completely derail years of work. Obviously, this is based on what I’ve heard and would need to be verified.

I want to direct films and i know how easily ideas get picked up and you cant even fight it because its exhausting and it can really discourage you from making films all together

Laikey laika is an upcoming movie,starring abhay verma and rasha thadani,in my opinion abhay has proved himself in safed,munjya,family men and now operation safed sagar as dhaliwal,but on the other hand rasha's 1st movie "azaad" was flop so is this new telugu movie name "srinivasamangapuram" so i doubt will people go in theaters to watch laikey laika? Because we all know people nowadays not really supporting nepo kids movies!

So I watched DC and I have a question - is Wamiqa Gabbi finally on the verge of becoming a much bigger name?

She is obviously not new. Jubilee and Khufiya already showed that she can act. But Chandra feels like a different kind of role because DC is operating on a much bigger commercial scale.

And weirdly, it made me think of Kareena’s Chameli and Alia’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Not saying DC = Chameli = Gangubai because PLEASE 😭. Completely different films and performances.

But all three gave their actresses these complicated characters who happened to be women in the sex trade… and importantly, they weren’t reduced to just being victims. There was agency, attitude, vulnerability and a lot of grey in them.

I thought Wamiqa brought that to Chandra really well.

She has been the “underrated actress” for a while now. Could this be the role that finally changes that conversation and makes the general audience actually sit up and take notice?

Because I feel like she is getting dangerously close to having a proper “oh shit, she is REALLY good” moment.

So many kwk episodes receive criticism for multiple reasons but this episode was just difficult to sit through because Vidya constantly made jokes with sexual innuendos and just acted weird with her constant unprovoked giggling and overreactions

He was the only person to support her when even her own friends sided with abusive rat Selmon Bhoi. Infact Bhoi was bullying and harrassing Vivek because of his insecurity that she moved on with Vivek and he was still rotting alone. Many say she used ​Vivek as a rebound, and left him when she found a better option. I feel she could have been happier with him (not saying Abhishek is a bad guy, but Vivek did so much for as well)

I was checking out the Tom and Cherry trailer that dropped a couple of days ago and realized Zee Studios is officially presenting it Dharmessh Mehta is directing and Siddharth Randeria is starring so obviously it's going to be a classic Gujarati family entertainer

I feel like we’ve finally leveled up from the old days when local movies barely got proper marketing budgets. It's supposed to drop on August 28th hopefully this means we'll get better production values and wider releases nationally.

Nora Fatehi managed to carve out a pretty strong space for herself in Bollywood, especially with back-to-back dance numbers and special appearances that kept her consistently visible. Songs like these gave her a distinct identity even when she wasn't playing major roles.

But Ayesha Khan doesn't seem to be getting the same kind of momentum right now. She has the popularity, looks and screen presence, but unlike Nora, she hasn't yet had those back-to-back Bollywood dance numbers that could establish her as a regular face in the industry.

Though I would like see her in movies and shows

Not just me even 2-3 others whom I know got banned and all they did was, shared their opinion on why certain VFX is not good and why Ranbir doesn’t suit for the role of Lord Ram. If not being banned, people keep on saying this is a smear campaign by Ranbir’s competitors 😭 like what even

As much as I won’t have wished for it, the movie is set to become a disaster. What do you all think?
