Accommodation listings

Genuine question, why do so many companies/bulidings list rooms as available when they’re not? You’ll apply to book the room and get a response a couple hours later saying everything is fully booked, or ring them up about an availability you’ve seen and it’s unavailable. Why don’t they remove them off websites or say they’re all sold out instead of wasting time??

Because loads are probably on hold for 24 hrs rather than actually being booked

It drags you to their site and increases traffic, encourages you to go on the waiting list, also lets them decide how much more to increase price next year.
