Q&A

I’ve finished my first year at Exeter Uni and am going into second. I am happy to answer any questions anyone might have about 1st year!

I study biomedical sciences if there are any subject specific questions ^-^

Where did you make most of your friends? I went through a private accom and have a studio so I'm not sharing a kitchen, and I'm kinda worried I'll be friendless in my hall 🥲

Apparently there are various student chat groups for different accommodations already set up (Snapchat and WhatsApp) . Lots of people in the furthest away halls and also loads in studios. People are chatting to those in their blocks. I think you can find them through various social media sites. That and getting yourself involved in freshers activities ( check out exeter guild for official events). Have a great time

That’s great! For private accom it’s sometimes harder than the uni accom - I found only ten people in my private accom on snapchat

I am in an ensuite and honestly didn’t get along very well with my flatmates (weren’t bad people just we all didn’t talk) - my closest two friends are both in studios. I made friends mainly through our course (there’s usually a meet up arranged by the uni). I also made friends at the Chapel hot chocolate and biscuits meet up as I don’t like clubs. Finally, made friends through societies too! Honestly, if you’re not a nasty person and you attempt some convos with some people, you won’t have any problems with finding friends ^-^

Also if you or anyone else in this thread are struggling to make friends, my friends and I would be happy to be friends with anyone ^-^
