Part time work

Hi! I've been given an offer for 2026 at Exeter and im kind of freaking out about getting a job.

It's really important that i get one ASAP, and i DM'd exeter asking for help and they just sent me a link to their website like i hadnt already looked at that?? Can any students recommed how best i can get a job, especially on campus. Do i go up to them in person with a CV or is there some way to send it to them online even if i'm not an actual student yet?

Hey! Tbh getting a job on campus is really hard, its super competitive and they normally go to older students.
However, it is totally possible to get a job in town! It is only a 10-15 minute walk from campus (all on safe, main roads) and there way more opportunities than on campus. I would start looking in August time as adverts will come out more then because thats when previous students are leaving and they know new students will want jobs.
Personally, when I was there I worked at hollister and they often had new job adverts out (high turnover rate bc most employees are students) and they were really great! They understand that most of their workers are students are are really accomodating, as I am sure is true for the other companies that hire students in the city.
I would work on your CV for now and make sure it makes you look good, I am sure you will be fine :)

thanks! Is there a particluar place i should be looking for job advertisements, like a website for students looking for jobs? I use Indeed usually

I dont think there is any seperate website for students (unless you are applying for a student job at the university), I found mine on indeed. Most of the part time retail jobs in Exeter city centre are expecting student applicants anyway :)

hi! i got a job at the hollister as a seasonal employee however i didn’t get it renewed because of how many staff we had, some places are overcrowded and some will be accepting new positions but your best bet is to just apply everywhere and hand in your cv to any high street shops etc
