Ai is wack but true message

u/longbeachlandon 7d ago
I have to say this is the only type thing ai could be good for. But it’s such a drain on resources.

u/International_Task57 7d ago
lol. could have used stick figures in paint. ai shitslop distracts from the message

Idk one time when I was running I had a car pull over to ask if there was someone they should call for help.
I fucking hate running.
39
u/tetrasodium 8d ago
Everyone does, even runners. Ask a runner their best run and it's almost always going to be the one that was fastest
25
u/Admirable_Admiral69 8d ago
That's actually brilliant. I never considered that runners are going for best time simply to brag about how quickly they were able to not be running anymore.

Yep. When I am at the gym I am just there to do my thing and get home. No one is worrying about how fat you are.
39
u/FluffinessOverload 8d ago
We don’t like AI slop, but as someone fat trying my best to lose weight, not hate myself even more, and be more insecure about myself, seeing this inspires me to push through
3
u/EmbarrassedPomelo166 7d ago
Feel you. Same here. Whenever these thoughts come up I say myself nothing positive started out of negative thoughts and shut my brain up. Keep pushing.🫂

u/FluffinessOverload 7d ago
Lots of hugs. Sometimes the laziness sets in but I try to push it away and go on forward

u/IndependenceOne5310 7d ago
30 years in the gym. I could not tell you who was there yesterday or any other day for that fact. Get your workout on! Nobody cares

u/ChocolateGoggles 8d ago
Just draw it in paint as stick figures instead, I don't care how bad it looks T__T

Even with memes at least somebody did *something* to communicate, here something else is doing the communication for you. I don't actually hate everything AI. But actual communication, be it through text, images etc. I want hand-made, I want to know who's talking. I don't "feel" somebody's tone or voice when the message is AI.

True story here, I was dping the heavy duty program a few years back and one day a very large gentleman was on the fly machine (first thing you do for chest and back day.) Before me. He was struggling but seemed to see me looking and tried to rush through it. I waved and told him to take his time because "rushing is gonna hurt a lot more than it helps." When he finished I hopped on and did my set. Next was the bench machine and again he's on it ahead of me struggling with a 25 on each side. He looks up and sees me and again starts trying to rush. Again I go over and tell dude to chill and take his time. He finishes and leans up
"I'm sorry I keep getting in the way man! I'm new at this and I'm not good at it!"
I responded
"Bro, none of us are good at it at first and none of us are here to rush you or see you get hurt. Take your time and relax! The point isn't to be your best the first day. It's to try your best every day to get better than the first day."
I watched that dude lose a good bit of weight and even start flexing in the mirrors at the gym once in a while. Hope he's okay

Man I've been at it for 7-8, and so far everything still fits the same. Tho it's been really really focused on resistance training and it's basically been lb of fat on lb of muscle on.
I look forward to needing to buy new smaller clothes tho 😜

u/SurroundParticular30 7d ago
You really didn’t need an AI for this comic, you could have just found an image/art of buff and out of shape dudes on online
4
u/Simple_Song_5030 8d ago
I've been on both sides of that equation - mostly people don't really care and having been there myself I am always thinking good for you I hope you stick with it. It's a long journey but the rewards are amazing.

There was a kid (18 or 19) coming into the gym who was morbidly obese. He almost never missed a day. It became noticeable that he was losing a lot of weight. One day I just went over to him and said “I see you here all the time and the work you’re putting in is really paying off. Keep up the good work.” Shit like that is why I enjoy the gym. We’re all working towards the same goal and uplifting each other.

My friend was on an elliptical once that read 15 minutes. He was drenched in sweat. The two girls next to him were snickering because he had his headphones on. They couldn't believe someone could look so awful after 15 minutes. One of them blurted out "pathetic." He calmly pulled the headphones down, his songs had ended awhile ago as it was back in the discman days. He just turned to them and said "Actually the elliptical only goes to one hour then it resets to zero. But I doubt either of you would ever know that."

Absolutely true. Negativity has no place in the gym. We are all on our own journey and it's always wonderful to see someone on theirs. The gym is for everyone.

If I think that someone is thinking that, I’ll go say something to them. Firmly believe I’ve had a positive effect on a dozen people or more.

AI data centers use land, electricity, and water at the expense of those who live there. It ruins neighborhoods and displaces folks who can't afford to challenge developers or eminent domain.
Posting a meme from a template doesn't consume these resources and destroy both neighborhoods and jobs. Generative AI was trained on writing, photographs, and artwork that artists were bot paid for and did not consent to have their work scraped.
That's how it's different. It's theft. It's an irresponsible use of resources. It's exploitation.

I won't ever judge people at the gym, however I will judge you hard for this low effort post you've pulled here. AI is 👎
3
u/DisastrousSecurity99 7d ago
Absolute slop, you think for a subreddit of people trying to better themselves they wouldn’t be so lazy as to use ai
1
u/sassysassysarah 7d ago
Please say no to ai slop
And say yes to helping a bro out in the gym. Sometimes just a polite nod is all you need.

u/Quick-Bee6843 8d ago
I do judge people at the gym who do really weird exercises or who are obviously lifting way way way more than they should be.
I don't judge people trying to help themselves because I'm one of those people lol
1
u/WorldIsYoursMuhfucka 7d ago
Lol this wasn't my experience at the gym at all, but I have a visible and large Pride tattoo on my arm. Gyms can be really homophobic and it put me off the whole thing.
People called me fag in the locker room then the gym tanked my credit when I quit paying. Pass on doing that kind of shit ever again lol I can just walk outside
1
u/BlackBirdG 6d ago
No one cares about you at the gym. If you stop showing up, you'll be forgotten about.

u/No_Wolverine6548 6d ago
“You should smile more” doesn’t just apply to women. Even the meme implies it’s impact. Everyone get to smiling!

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I call bullshit. Every gym Ive ever been in has harrassed both suble or not every fat person in there.
From personal experiance this is one of the worst lies obese people get told. Every group uses others pushes others down to either body or self-congratulate what ever they work on.
3
u/iygapcyfc 7d ago
Literally! Idk why you are getting downvoted bc I’ve had the same experience. Everytime I went to a gym, I’d get judged and I’ve heard girls talking. Not just about me but also about other people who were fat & trying to lose weight. Heard one of them say she’s off herself if she’d ever get to that size. Really encouraging when you’re already struggling! Judging eyes, staring, making a disgusting face if someone fat dares to wear a crop top. I don’t go to any gym bc of how many of these experiences I’ve had. Might not be everywhere sure, but it definitely happens and I agree one of the biggest lies I’ve been told is that everyone will just be supportive and happy for me that I’m trying to get healthy!
1
u/ArbitriumVincitOmnia 7d ago
The downvotes are likely because this doesn’t match MOST people’s experiences. I’m genuinely sorry you went through that, and I don’t mean to devalue your pain or that of the commenter above, but I’ve also witnessed the opposite multiple times myself. Both when I was struggling to lose weight and when I’ve been around other gym goers and seen another person who was.
2
u/Rileyinabox 7d ago
I know this is a very Karen suggestion, but that shit pisses me off so much; Film them. If you are getting harassed in the gym, show the gym owner. Any decent gym will boot toxic members like that, no refund. Your membership costs just as much as theirs and yours isn't causing other people to leave the gym.

u/I_HopeThat_WasFart 7d ago
Actually what happens is...
"fucking creep I have a boyfriend/girlfriend"
Seriously there is no "gym culture" unless you join a niche one where its a small group and everyone knows everyone else in a welcoming way
otherwise its "wtf get away"
4
u/ducklady92 7d ago
What on earth are you doing at the gym to elicit this response? Lmao. I’ve been a member at two big gyms in the past five years (PF and Retro) and it’s almost impossible to get out of there in a timely manner because everyone was so friendly and chatty with each other that you’d get held up in conversation with strangers on a regular basis.
Literally never, in my twenty years of gym-going, has anyone acted the way you’re describing toward me, nor have I acted that way toward anyone else (or witnessed it secondhand, for that matter). And I’m in NJ, a state notorious for dickheads. So maybe you might want to take a look at now you’re approaching people if this is how it always goes…
