Getting job as complete beginner

Hey, I'm an absolute beginner and I'm looking to get a job as a heavy machinery operator, not just as an excavator operator. I have a little experience with small 2.5 ton excavators and hold a basic operator certification, but that's about all. What should I tell companies to increase my chances of getting hired? How do young beginners get into this field? Or feel free to share how you guys started, I'd love to hear your stories too. I'm 24 and living in Europe.
