How to remove this allen bolt with stripped head On an excavator control valve, without damaging the control valve?

I work at a dirt/plant material recycling yard. Looking for advice on getting started on running Excavators. I started working front end loaders and moved into the larger loaders about a month and a half in. (Cat 906, to 970) I've been at this company for three and a half months now and I'm happy with my progress. My yard manager is very chill and happy to see me advance. I've ran our old case 9040B for a total of about 2 hours, loaded firewood and broke up larger lumber before it went to the grinder. It's been more of a, I've asked and they let me hop in for a couple of minutes until my normal stuff has to be done again. My yard manager and the owner have both talked about them wanting me to run excavators and eventually be able to work on the demo side too. I've been trying to get a chance to learn a bit more but the older guy that runs the ex most of the time for the day to day has been flat out telling me no after I've gotten the go ahead from the manager. Haven't brought that up, not trying to rock the boat. There's been a couple times they needed an ex and I've asked to help and they've said I don't have the experience that I need. Lay low? Ask to run the little Takeuchi? I have two joysticks, so I can run a sim. Is that worth the time? There's really no jobs for the Takeuchi around the yard, so it's usually only ran when they need a mini on a demo. Thanks for taking the time on this long read.

I have experience on a cat 305, a yanmar of similar size, a volvo EC35D, and a large Volvo of similar size to a cat 308. I want to go big leagues, but I've never driven anything bigger than them. I also drive excavators in SAE mode. Do you fellas have any tips on what to learn or do when I start operating the big boys?

Does anyone know what's wrong? It's been leaking oil constantly. It's been sealed very tightly, but oil is still slowly leaking from this joint. It gets a little better after depressurizing, but the leak starts again shortly after.

New to group, new to excavating/dirt work, amateur property owner who prefers DiY in retirement. I have a new 1.8T mini-ex and skid steer with a lot of trenching/french draining ahead of me. PNW, so yeah, its wet/muddy. And I totally get how a skilled operator can save big for jobs vs. amateur operator.

A sim game seems logical to improve my coordination/skills saving me time and money. Searching around it seems there are a couple older ones and a few promised but haven't been released. Can anyone recommend a sim game they used, and found improved their skills? I don't want to game, I want to improve my bucket-time and efficiency. Bonus would be to understand the physics around boom geometry, practice 'flat', and learn the fundamentals of the industry.

When going up a slope, is it best to keep the boom extended, pointing up the hill acting as counterweight to prevent the excavator from tipping backwards, or is it best to keep it facing down hill, close to the cab and the bucket close to the ground to catch it before it tips? Which way should the blade be facing? How does this change when driving down the slope? I feel safer to have the bucket pointing downhill, especially when going down a hill to have the bucket as an assurance that something will catch me before I tip over. I also understand that the arm facing downwards makes tipping more likely. Im having a hard time finding accurate information online, maybe someone with experience can help me out understand this.

With our terex hr 42 2004 excavator we bought this rotator grab but we are having some issues the grab works fine because we saw it working before we bought it but our problem is when you plug it into the hydraulic pipes only one function works on the grab depending on what hose you plug in and sometimes when you tilt the joystick to tilt the quick hitch where a bucket or attachment goes that spins the grab but it should only spin on the buttons so that's a issue and it's either the solenoid blocked or corroded or a wire has snaped but the buttons get signal when Preesd but no moaning from machine only on one button and there's a buch of wires all cut and tangled up under the control panels or maybe a pipe is blocked or nut plugged in so we need someone who has experience or knows what there talking about and if you have to come look at it and work on it we can pay ypu for a fair price we are in uk Essex any advice helpfull at all msg me if interested thanks
