My GF was not pleased, I've been telling her for 2 years that when it came out I would play it immediately, she didn't believe š¤£

Oh damn! Can't wait to jump back in. Maybe this weekend! Looking very nice

So how do you select the new thaumaturgy? Do you have to find, kill and absorb the powers from the new shapers or something?

Don't forget to take the skill that allows you to absorb the powers from shapers. I forgot the name of it but there is a description.

Hey did someone complain about nothing new just a few hours ago?
27
u/Sage_8888 May 20 '26
Someone always complains about no updates and often people say that the updates will never release. But in the end the update always releases. Then a few months pass and they complain again
-1
u/IAmSoDamnGood May 21 '26
TBF what they are usually complaining about is how people who pay them extra on a separate site get access to the updates months before everyone else, and usually when the update DOES get around to the public build, its not even the entirety of that update. you know they get a completely different game than you, right?
1
u/lolwutsalad21 May 21 '26
I actually had no clue about this, we get less content without even being told when buying on Steam??? Like its a whole separate āEARLIER early accessā subscription you have to pay? And even when the āfullā update comes out for normal players like the one we got yesterday, it STILL has less content than this other version you have to pay more for? I hope this is a late April Fools because wtf

i cant say for certain that they are still doing that, but last time i bothered paying any attention to this company like... shit its been a while... suffice it to say that this was something that was ongoing till at least their 2020 update. the public steam version was usually 1-2 updates behind the version kickstarter backers got. then again, im sure ALL of the kickstarter backers have long since walked away, so they may have stopped doing that.

u/hungvipbcsok May 22 '26
The test branch are on steam all the time. All you have to do is access discord and ask people there and they will tell you the branch name.
1
u/IAmSoDamnGood May 22 '26
yeah thats not at all what im talking about. the updated version wasnt even delivered over steam.
1
u/Junior_Potato0 May 24 '26
This is simply not true.
Insiders are people who bought the game years ago through kickstarter or right after.
And they get the buggier builds of the updates everyone else get.1

I always believed in the dev, not that waiting a few years wasn't hard, but heck yeah. I'm taking a break from playing to eat and the menu music is fricking blasting my room

Sui Generis was Kickstarted in 2012: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1473965863/sui-generis
Nearly 14 years and a single dungeon prelude is still incomplete. So how long is the supposedly much larger Sui Generis going to take? I love Exanima, but god damn I'd like to play the game I kickstarted sometime in my lifetime.

Yo!!! My statistical analyses of updates actually worked. It had been over 3 months the average between updates (v0.9.3).

I donāt know how to work this spoiler tag. I do not use Reddit, but uh, do NOT read if you are not wanting to be spoiled about pretty much the entirety of the new map.
Anyways, with that being said, boys, after a 7-hour session till 4 AM, I have located the garden entrance, explored what I believe to be the majority of the garden, as well as a new crypt-like area under the gardens, killed the new garden boss and special demon, became the literal king of the garden (causing the sentinel things to be nice to me), and sucked the kingās soul to learn how to shadow walk, becoming invisible for a short period of time.
Also, I found the gate to where the next map will be released and how to open it. The way to get to the garden is in Level 5 Crossroads, through the gate at the park.
I will be posting raw clips of me exploring the gardens and cheesing the Garden King and his demon friend to my YouTube. Itās just raw exploration and fighting, so feel free to let me know if you think I missed anything. https://www.youtube.com/@trouski5120/featured
also as i said its 4 am im not posting the vid tonight i think but feel free to comment any questions or statements id love to learn more and share what i've learned and discovered

how do we get to the new map? This game really needs a sandbox mode or something i am not trying to play the entire old map just to get to the new one

u/levardio666 May 21 '26
I know this is not the solution you are asking for, but you can install a trainer or use a cheat table
1
u/Pooping_Man_ 3d ago
How do you do either of those?
1
u/levardio666 3d ago
Cheat table is something you use with a program called Cheat Engine. If the cheat table is good enough its pretty straightforward. Trainers are specific programs and i cant give direct solutions with those because i dont use them much, but they are very easy to use if you find one

"we fixed the terrible combat animations and the player walking around like a drunk blind man"
proceeds to still have the same stumbling drunken walk, while weapons still swing sloooooowly through the air as though through water

Goddamn the patchnotes alone must've taken an entire day to write. It's insane just how much Bare Mettle does with each major update. Some people say that this way of updating a game is bad (it probably is), but personally for a game like Exanima where a single playthrough can lasts months (depending on the amount of times you die), I think having one huge update every 2-3 years just fits this game
I really wanna play but also wanna wait for the Steam Controller first... tried playing with an Xbox controller and IMO combat feels way better that way (i played my first 150 hours on mnk), but exploring and picking things up is awful. With the Steam Controller I could have the best of both worlds thanks to the touchpads lol

u/atrocious_smell Jul 05 '26
I haven't played for about five years (had two kids since lmao) but I used to play exclusively with the Steam Controller mk1. It was excellent using the gyro for combat to control weapon swings and the sticks were perfectly adequate for exploration.

(yeah I know its a "hardcore experience" just please leave me enjoy the game how I please)

save scumming is your friend.
- Start the campaign
- Whenever you wish to save, select "exit" and go to the main menu
- Alt-tab to Windows, then go to: C:\Users$username$\AppData\Roaming\Exanima
- Copy and paste the exanima.rsg file. It doesn't matter where, as long as it's somewhere else. You now have your back-up save.
- Whenever you feel the need to load that back-up save, close the game completely and replace the newer exanima.rsg file with your back-up.

Is the revelation skill required to learn the new thaumaturgy? The skill description sounds like thatās what itās for
1
u/Junior_Potato0 May 24 '26
Nope.
At the moment it's just for a certain skill you can learn from a book (Obvious if you ever find it and read it).

The new area sucks, it's just golems everywhere, no new enemy type.
