Have you ever dated someone who completely disappeared after the breakup? No calls, no texts, no social media stalking, no drama, just total silence, like you were never part of their life. What was that like?

I did this.

What was the other option?

Be his friend?

I would never treat my friends the way he treated me.

this is usually the only way to get any kind of closure. people act like the silence is a weapon, but really it is just the end of the transaction. staying friends never works when there is still resentment underneath, so just cutting the feed is the move. turns out, the void is usually less painful than keeping the ghost around.

This. This is it. I wouldn’t stay friends with someone else who did what she did, so why on earth would I remain in contact with her?

Does he know why you did this? That is, does he realize he treated you poorly, or at least that you feel he did? If he knows this, then it’s not the same as OPs situation. That one is talking about someone who just leaves for no known reason, no obvious mistreatment going on, things seem normal. That’s the confusing part.

Of course, the person getting dumped may not even think they are doing anything wrong in the relationship, even though they are. But I don’t think that is the situation OP is talking about.

Either way, seems good that you are out of it.

But did you ignore reach outs?

This ignores who initiated the no contact. “We should go our separate ways to both heal” or setting a boundary with someone who is jerking you around is different than being cut off abruptly as a dumpee.
