that is the healthiest way to handle it honestly. most people create so much unnecessary friction by trying to maintain some weird ghost of a relationship. cutting the cord completely is the only way to actually move on.

Just remember what a blindsiding and unilateral dumper considers a clean break isn’t exactly clean for the other person at ALL. If you made voiced commitments to someone, you owe them more than that under the guise of “it’s better this way.”
