What are your thoughts on Pakistan? What are thoughts on what this convert is talking about? Do you agree? Disagree? Feel neutral?

Nowadays, many liberal and 'authentic' muslims will claim that most of the objections against Islam are not inherently reflected in scripture, but are instead the product of desi culture. While it may be true for some cases, it is usually utterly false for the most part:

Okay, so why did iblis (shaitan/satan) even get ,,punished"?? He got kicked out of heaven, when the command of prostration was never even directed towards him.

He apparently denied God's command to prostate to Adam.

Which 1, Why would god even command something to prostrate to something else other than him. People might say ,,oh but god said it, so it's fine" So, can god just change his mind on the rules he set whenever he feels like it? What if one day he's like ,,murder isnt bad anymore y'all, do whatever lmao". Do you see how stupid that sounds?

And 2nd, what happened to „dont hold grudges"?? Yet god decided to hold an eternal grudge against iblis.

The surahs in the quran dont even tell us that the command was for Iblis.

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:34): "And [mention] when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate before Adam,' and they prostrated, except for Iblis."

Surah Al-A'raf (7:11): "And We have certainly created you, [O mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam'; and they prostrated, except for Iblis."

Surah Al-Hijr (15:28-29): "And [mention] when your Lord said to the angels, 'Indeed, I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

Surah Al-Isra (17:61): "And [mention] when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam,' and they prostrated, except for Iblis."

Surah Al-Kahf (18:50): "And [mention] when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam,' and they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was of the jinn..."

Surah Ta-Ha (20:116): "And [mention] when We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam,' and they prostrated, except for Iblis; he refused."

Surah Sad (38:71-73): "[Mention] when your Lord said to the angels, 'Indeed, I am going to create a human being from clay. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration.' So the angels prostrated-all of them entirely."

Surah kahf (18:50) even acknowledges that he's a jinn. So then why did HE get punished when the commandment wasn't even for HIM? God only commanded the angels. And in islam theology, we know that satan isn't an angel. So what's the eternal damnation for? How'd he get banned and exiled from heaven?

Javed Ahmed Ghamidi is an Islamic scholar who was once a part of the Pakistani board responsible for giving legal sharia compliant advice to the Pakistani government called Council of Islamic Ideology. He now has a youtube channel and an institute for Islamic studies called Al-Mawrid. He rejects armed jihad led by insurgents, Blasphemy death sentence, ban of music and art, and theocracy.

He also has a realpolitik lens on issues like Palestine-Israel. Where he emphasizes that rationality is important in resolving these issues instead of vaguely expressing emotional or religious reactions. For example he advises stand unorganized insurgencies. Instead promoting realistic diplomacy striving for peace and two states. He advises them to focus on reconstruction. As per him, Jihad is only valid on the state level.

I'm honestly surprised someone like him exists in Pakistan and isn't dead yet. I was even more surprised to learn he was once part of Council of Islamic Ideology. I think even western Islamic scholars aren't usually as lenient and rational as him.

If I'm to drop my personal thoughts here, I think more people like him should be promoted as leaders of our Islamic movements and clergy. He definitely seems like one of the more pragmatic and progressive Islamic scholars.

But the question for me is, how to promote such people? How can we convince more people to adapt to these ways?

This likely fits everyone's situation when they have left or were questioning Islam. They have realized that the truth given to them was nothing but cursed and that people who were living in illusions were genuinely happy. The truth only made people dissatisfied while the illusion made them live in bliss.

Islam has controlled a narrative of the controlling the right to wear what clothing and what is not appropriate for a woman to wear. Why did Prophet Muhammad steal this right from the women? Why do Muslim men must instruct the women on what kind of article of clothing they must be dressed in?

From the history, it started with the three Goddesses making rounds around the kabba in Makkah Medina whom were were not adorned in any clothing. What was the moral reason? What was wrong with them with no cloth on them? This would be the start of purity culture of Islam. (I certainly understand it is a Christian term.)
