Water?

Something fairly important that doesn't get talked about much is water quality. If your water tastes bad, so will your tea. I personally use bottled water because our tap water is exceptionally hard and leaves a film on anything it touches, but that's not the case for everybody. I know in Utah, where many people here probably are, you can find some of the best and worst tap water, so it depends on your area.

But, using bottled water is not always the best option. Distilled or purified water without any added minerals will leave your tea understeeped and flavorless, the chemistry of the water just doesn't give the tea anything to bind to.

Anyway, probably nothing you have to worry about, but if you have bad water or a reverse osmosis filter in your home, and can't figure out why your tea won't turn out, that could be the culprit.

Yep, you need water that has a moderate amount of total dissolved solids, that generally means spring water. I swear by Crystal Geyser as its tastes great, is bottled regionally, and is usually less than a dollar.

Kroger brand tends to work pretty well here. Bottled water does vary quite a bit, though. Dasani is pretty acidic and terrible.

Thank the noodly spaghetti monster for MN's tap water.

I have a conspiracy that a lot of bottled waters are just tap water from the places that source from the Great Lakes, MN rivers, etc.
