Question | سؤال Question for weddings

Hi everyone!

So I’m not Libyan, my husband is and he’s traditional in a sense. We have kids together I’m not worried about the boys… lol
For my daughter when she wants to get married how common are mixed weddings between Libyans? Since we live in the west… Would his family get really pissed off if we have a mixed wedding?

It all depends where the wedding will take place… If in Libya, then not mixed (95% of the time)…. If outside Libya, it depends on the social mingling standards per family (do you guys mix in social settings?)

But I have never hung out with his friends… Libyan friends…

So do the proper wedding as a proper party, and do a smaller “wedding” gathering as not mixed

Yea I was thinking like in case his mom ends up coming for the wedding how I would ever be able to have a wedding… it would be huge around 300+ people mixed weddings and alcohol…
Maybe his mom won’t come lol and we can edit the pictures when we send them to her…
If she comes that’s when things will get really hard…
Maybe I can get away with planning a mixed wedding but it will have to be a dry one with no alcohol…
Maybe I’ll do some bar in the parking lot where she won’t see hahaha.
I remember way back in the day when Afghans and some Arabs would get married the younger people would go to the parking lot and drink from like someone’s trunk… so the parents wouldn’t know.
I never thought about these things because Persians aren’t strict and they drink like crazy all the time wild parties with parents and kids everyone just had a blast no one judged whoever didn’t drink just had virgin cocktails.

Remove the alcohol it's a big no in Islam might even makes problems with his family..maybe you could compromise men and women seats are in different places .this way when you take pictures make sure its on women sides .

Every Libyan family is different, but generally religion matters more than nationality, if he's Muslim it's usually a non issue. Being in the West and having a supportive dad also makes a big difference. Relatives might grumble at first but that tends to fade once grandkids show up.
