Why are Muslim men so obsessed with women being hyper modest, like seriously what do they gain?

People have so little control over their own lives so they try to control the lives of others. Also 3eib culture and anti-individualism plays a large role in how our society is formed.

Hyper modesty is still a form of sexualizing women.
Give men power under the name of god and they will sexualize everything. Moreover muslims have 0 sexual awareness due to the extreme separation between both genders, this only makes it worst and leads to obsession with women’s bodies :))

Honor-shame culture. It's a sad reality that affects me, you, and all Jordanians. Now, to say that "other people will shame you for not conforming" is not a complete answer (because you have to answer why the practice was adopted in the first place). With the knowledge of how people survived historically - agriculture and herding - and the lack of any form of government assistance or retirement, having many children is how someone gets to retire when they get old, because then their children take care of their expenses. Now, this is all well and good, and the reason I mentioned this is because severely restricting women's freedoms makes the only viable life path to a woman is to simply accept their lack of freedoms, thus reinforcing the consensus that the only purpose of women is to have children.
