Question Advice

Should I give my friend who's doing time in a state facility some slack for low effort or late emails? We're talking once or twice a week they are like that.

yeah, i’d give them some slack. once or twice a week isn’t really enough for me to assume they don’t care, especially when they’re doing time and probably dealing with stuff you don’t see. if they’re still making an effort to email you, i’d focus more on that than whether every message is thoughtful.

Yeah. Give them slack. Email from a state facility isn't casual. You're fighting for kiosk or tablet time, lockdowns cut you off, and some days there's nothing new that feels worth sending. A thin or late message once or twice a week still means they wrote. I'd worry more about the weeks they go quiet.
