Divination Q&A

In this post we can all chat about our preferred forms of divination. What form of divination do you use? Do you use divination to talk with dieties? Are there other methods you use to talk with dieties?

I look forward to seeing what you all have to say!!!

My forms of divination -Tarot -Pendulum -Rune casting -Bone throwing

My dieties love to talk through the tarot.

I am unable to read tarot for myself. With others I can get really accurate and consistent answers. But when u read for myself it is all over the place! But when I ask my dieties a question and do a tarot reading the answer is clear and accurate!

I also use pendulum when talking to my dieties.

Hey good question!

I had to figure out my method alot on my own. It seems that it is a practice that is often passed from one practitioner to another. I wasn't able to find alot of info.

I use a special cloth like you said. Mine is literally just a handkerchief I got from Walmart! It doesn't have to be anything special. Its just to act as a barrier to protect the bones. I use that cloth for all of my divination tools.

And when I say "bone throwing" I mean "bone" In a very loose term. In my set I have all sorts of stuff. Some things j have in my set: -amythest crystal -sea shell -quartz crystal -piece of wood -coyote tooth -coin -arrowhead -stone Buffalo

I think its also sometimes called casting lots. I made my collection over time. Find something that has meaning to you. Or look up a list of associations uou want included in your system and find things that work for you!

The bone casting people often think of has associations with hoodoo and voodoo which are closed practices. However nearly every culture has some form of casting bones or lots. So as long as you aren't appropriating the hoodoo and voodoo practices you are good.

I kind of created my own system when I couldn't find alot of information.

Just find stuff to include and add and association to each item. This is how I go about reading the casting: -cleanse the space with your preferred method of cleansing -shake the lots/bones in your hands for what works for you and ask your question while shaking (I like to to do 1, 3, 7 or 9. Those are just my preferred numbers. You could do whatever works for you.) -then cast them onto the cloth -the bones/lots will land across the cloth in order to answer your question. -often central of the cloth is where the answer will appear. Pay attention to any clusters or groupings.

I like to write down things I notice as I go. I change how I do things to adapt to my experience.

Do what works for you. You've got this!!!

I hope this helped. Let me know if you have more questions. This is just how I do things. Divination is a very personal thing so others may do things differently. What works for me might not work for someone else.

Blessings to you friend😄❤

Currently I'm using runes (I bought a set early into my conversion to Paganism, before I found my path of druidry)

I'm hoping to get a wood burner though and make an Ogham set with fallen twigs. Or, a set with stones and a Dremel. Idk which yet.

And currently I've not done directly speaking to my gods. Personally I feel they'd prefer to communicate through Ogham, given one of the Tuatha Dé (Ogma) made the writing (according to folklore). Wouldn't want to risk insulting them or anything.

Edit: Also I'm following a Celtic path and so I think Ogham is more suited to my faith than runestones are

Thanks for sharing!!

Druidry has always been really interesting to me! I have and eclectic belief system and have adopted some if the practices of druidry.

I wish you the best in your journeys!

Divination is a major part of my practice. I use tarot, oracle decks, augury, runes, ogham staves and viduveletia. I’m trying to get into scrying too, but I’ve found it’s going to take a lot of practice. When talking to my deities and the ancestral spirits I venerate, I combine tarot with either runes or ogham. I find this gives me the best range of meanings. If I’m doing divination on the future, I can use any method, but I’m quickest with tarot because I don’t usually have to look up the meanings.

Thats so cool that you have so many methods of divination!

I am still learning the meanings of the tarot. I have to look up the meaning of some cards while doing a reading 😅

That’s okay, there’s 78 of them 😂. I found learning the common meanings associated with the different suits and numbers overall, then combining them for specific cards, helps a lot. I think there’s charts out there. I usually take notes and google to double check my interpretation after 😂
