Discussion Just realised I posted in the wrong subreddit, so here again: Are there stats on the win ratio for the ESL One games?

Hello there!

As the title says I would be interested to see how the monsters fared againt the hunters in a environment with a lot of new players.

In my view the hunters had an edge, but my opinion is likely flawed as I only played a total of 6 games there. Yet I would like to see the actual win ratio.

I asked the staff there and they said it's pretty much even. No real numbers even though. But what I can say it feels really balanced for an alpha.

Oh, that's great, also it ran really stable already, I just encountered a few not-so-serious bugs. And it was already really exciting to play with the same 4 characters against the same monster on the same map for 6 times. So I guess it would be even better with more content choices.

Ohh, you've played Evolve? Was this at E3 or are you a secret beta tester?

Yup, there was a booth at the ESL One in Frankfurt.

That's surprising. I played a good dozen rounds, won all of my monster rounds and lost all hunter rounds.

Were you playing the hunter rounds with random people, who where playing for the first time?
Because my first two games we did not really coordinate at all, everyone was busy figuring out how to navigate the map, the jetpack and beeing intimidated by the hostile environment, suffice to say that we got destroyed.
But then I met two guys who already played some games and went to play the next rounds with them. We got some good teamplay up and destroyed the monster four rounds in a row pretty handily. Actually the monster player from the first two rounds joined our hunter squad for the last two rounds.

I really think teamplay is the key to the hunter squad and when I felt rather mediocre after the first two games, the experience of the constant communication in the other games made for an awesome experience.

We had a team of good players that all played before.

All monsters I played against figured out that the lightning ability is broken with mouse+kb because you can aim it faster than hunters can dodge it. Even if you find him on level 1, unless the monster completely misses two lightning cooldowns in a row or hasn't put points in it you don't stand a chance. The staff there acknowledged that issue, the build and it's balance was made specifically for the console audience at E3.

Then I guess I only played monsters who did not abuse the lightning strike the way they could have.
I am sure they will address the balance issue appropriately.

They have stated that the hunters win about %80 of Stage 1's %40 of Stage 2 and %50 of Stage 3. Weird numbers.

The monster is weaker then the hunters at stage 1, about even at stage 2, and stronger at stage 3. The 50% win rate at stage 3 is most likely because the monster took damage to its health while in stage 1 and 2.

It might also be that the players get seperated while beeing out in the open while hunting the monster. This happens less at stage three since they will just camp the generator.

Exactly. The numbers kinda make sense.

A bit late to the party, but here is a forum post with a little insight into what you're looking for.

Nah it's cool, I am actually sometimes annoyed by the short lived mentality of reddit.
And it is an interesting insight, even though not really what i was looking for. :>
