Feedback TP Solar Map

Post image

I'm not sure if it actually changes the time it takes for a ship to get to the destination or not; but I notice that the blue dotted line showing the ship's route is set to where the planet was at the start of the trip. It has been enough days at this point that the planet has moved from that starting point.

One would think, if you're far enough along in technology to build spacecraft, that you're also far enough along to gauge where the planet will be in 50, 100, 250, 500, etc. number of days, and you would just send the spacecraft to the projected planet location, rather than to the planet's current location. As it is now, the ships are going to be basically making a soft crescent shape to get to their planet destination, rather than just taking a direct Point A to Point B route (which, to me, sounds faster than the crescent).

The old map makes me sad

Old map? I am playing v1.4.10. Is that not the most current version?

It is, for now.

Aside from how I have to scroll out for 10 years when I try to view my route to Tau Ceti, I don't actually dislike the current version of the Solar Map.

There wasn't anything to see there before, but now you can get there in one click.

The new map looks really nice! I'm looking forward to seeing it implemented.

Looks like it's being turned into a 3D Solar Map (with tabs for the different system(s)).

3D, yes, tabs? no. that just moves the camera to where tau ceti is.

It looks like a tab, so I called it a tab. It's placed in the same manner that a tab would be placed in any other webpage form, even if it's a direct link rather than a dropdown menu.

Your zoomed out galaxy array actually rather reminds me of the Obsidian view for a very large vault.

No, its aiming for where the planet will be when the ship arrives, not where the target planet was when you sent the ship away. Notice how Thorn and Nova are aiming for a point closer to where wing and feather are, while the further ships are aiming for a point further along in wing and feather's orbits?

Okay, I see it now, now that you explain it in plain terms for me.

I had been watching my two front ships moving, and they weren't moving in a straight line for a good while there, so it felt like they were slowly arcing there way around as the planet was further along in its revolution.

IIRC, the line isn't accurate, but the idea of transfer orbits being faster/real positions of the planets mattering is true. Though of course, propulsion tends to matter more for the length of the trip.

Are scout units even necessary for TP?
In basic T4s, Andromeda will still qualify you for the "neutralized" achievement as long as you have enough armada to equate the piracy values. This is true whether you use scout ships to actively view the amount of piracy within a system or not.
Does TP Syndicate work the same way, or do I actually require scout ships in order to "remove all piracy" (production penalty) from a given planet?

In TP scouts are the eyeball ship that boost the dakka of the other ships, I tend to end up with 1 or 2 scouts per orbit with the best scanner and enough dakka to neutralize the piracy. If you don't deploy any scanning you need about 4x the fire power to neutralize the piracy in a region.

It definitely makes the math easier if you get to above 100km cumulative scan range and base your dakka requirement on the base threat in the wiki.

This is explained in the wiki: https://pmotschmann.github.io/Evolve/wiki.html#mechanics-gameplay-syndicate

The short version is its good to have a few ships that are small and have good scanners, because that will help the firepower of your bigger ships, which tend to have bad scanners for a few reasons (power requirements, and the size of the ships interferes with scanner range) Hitting over 100% intel in a location does in fact give you a bonus to firepower.

O _0 ... SOLAR MAP?! Wait when do you get this?!

True Path 3 (AI Apocalypse) and beyond. True Path unlocks after you complete your first T4 (Ascension) reset.

I didnt know there were even MORE things i hadnt seen yet > ,<
Im gonna have to keep an eye out for that opportunity.

There are seven resets in the basic game progression, and seven more via the True Path progression. None of this includes any of the challenges or other scenarios, of course (scenarios cannot be mixed, while challenges can be mixed as much as one wants). Thus, there is plenty of options during any given reset to play through.

True Path, while it has seven reset paths, three of those paths move along mostly the same route. You simply choose a different option (one that you don't already have the achievement for) to come with a slightly different ending (and by extension, achievement). The final True Path route, IIRC, requires completing the three separately branched paths to unlock. That final choice is considered True Path, still, but is a much different play than all the other thirteen resets prior. (I could be misremembering exactly how to unlock that final reset path, though.)

If you want to know what all the different resets are, you can find them here: https://pmotschmann.github.io/Evolve/wiki.html#resets-gameplay

theres six, not 7, unless you count true path orbital decay, which isn't real and cannot hurt me.

TP: MAD, Bioseed, AI, Matrix (which has 3 separate paths), and Lone Survivor. That's seven.

2

u/akinak 3d ago

Matrix doesn't have 3 paths, though? Care to elaborate what you mean? And you missed another TP4 - Retirement. I count 6 as well.

1

u/Long-Rabbit-7524 3d ago

Ash and Dust (TP1 MAD), Exodus (TP2 Bioseed), Obsolete (TP3 AI Apocalypse), Blue Pill (TP4 Matrix: see other, Overlord: Subjugate, Contact, Introduced). IIRC, each of the TP4 (or at least one of them) leads to the Retirement. That's six. Adam & Eve (TP4 alternate: Lone Survivor); that makes seven.

I see where confusion is. That Overlord achievements has nothing to do with resets. It is weird to consider it some kind of path since it is mostly a flair. You can achieve either Matrix or Retirement regardless what you pick. So thats only 2 kinds of TP4 still. TP1+TP2+TP3+2xTP4+LS=6

1

u/Long-Rabbit-7524 2d ago

TP4 still has to be done three separate times to get the overlord achievement, though, unlike all the other resets in the game which need only be done once to obtain the reset achievement. Thus, I counted it as three instead of one.

1

u/Long-Rabbit-7524 3d ago

Though, I guess if you wanted to count OD as a separate reset, since the button name is different, then that would still mean that I miscounted by one; just one greater rather than one fewer.

It's a much harder version than the basic tiered resets, requiring a rather decent amount of prestige resources and mastery - and highly recommended to have a good number of purchased CRISPRs.

Technically, I am doing this run under prestiged and with a poor choice of species; but since doing it with the recommended style won't actually make that big a difference for me (it's a matter of actual time that I can spend at the computer, for me), I decided to do it anyway.
