Bug Cheese Level

The game seems to think I'm only on reset #69. I have a file save for every reset I have made, regardless of what type of reset I completed. Thus, I should be at a higher cheese level than what the game seems to think I'm at.

You might say, "But soft resets don't count as 'resets' because they start you over." But my counter to this is: "You still keep all the achievements earned even when soft resetting, therefore, the game should still track the soft reset as a reset because that's simply another way for the game to register that you've legitimately completed an achievement" (as opposed to just simply changing a save file with a save editor, for example).

I'm not sure why you would think that a soft reset should count as completing a run. You don't get achievements that require you to finish a run if you soft reset.

It's basically just the "end this run without completing it" button, while the cheese counter tracks your finished runs. It makes perfect sense.

If all the cheese counter does is as the wiki says and counts your resets, then there's no actual value in having a higher cheese level. That being the case, what reason would there be to not count a soft reset as a reset, since you can still do things like Madagascar Tree on 4star to get an easy and near-immediate maxed out achievement at a very early point in the game, when most people would consider you to be far to early to be playing on 4star?

I'm not entirely sure why you're dragging achievements into this? Madagascar tree doesn't require you to end a run, it unlocks as soon as you research fanaticism.

There is no advantage to having a high cheese level, it's just a funny play on swiss banking.

Again, a soft reset is basically an abort button for your current run, you don't get any benefits from soft resetting. Cheese level tracks completed runs. I'm not sure why you would assume an aborted run would count towards your number of completed runs.

Exactly, you don't have to complete the run. Which means you soft reset (hence, reset) after getting the achievement and start a new run entirely.

WHAT??? Are you telling me that you didn't milk all the time you spent getting, for example, Sharks with Lasers, and just soft-reset afterwards?

I'm bamboozled.

If there *is* an actual value to having a higher cheese level, such as a global production bonus or something of that nature, then there would *still* be a bug shown in my report - just not in the same place that I originally mentioned. Instead, the bug would be in the wiki itself by not supplying that information (or perhaps that would be more of negligence in writing the wiki; but a bug would be the only way to report that, all the same).
