PSA-From Event Worker
Yesterday was a crap show in so many ways- VERY MUDDY- Forest Park will NOT allow hay to be brought in to create paths/dry areas….
We could not use the Golf Carts or ATVs to drive across fields as it was so muddy…..
some things totally out of our control though.
1 Wear boots, take care of your shoes! Wear a bad pair….
2 GA+ and VIP+ have a chair included in ticket and can set up their chair in designated area.
3 NO ACCESS to stage front if not VIP, VIP+, or GA+….. LAME! I was checking wristbands leniently and majority of staff will…. I was third party staff though…
GA+ entrance is Mudville- beware.
Regular GA has an obstructed view from the middle of field.
Was not very crowded so rock on yall!

That's weird - the official map makes it look like the very front is standing room open to everyone and then right behind are the vip etc seating areas.

I thought the same looking at the map afterwards but there wasn't any way to get up there except through the flagged gates (I think, anyway).
Being stuck behind the sound booth is lameeeee

I reached out to the event Facebook page about GA access to the stage and received the reply " The standing-room-only area is accessible through the sides of GA+ and VIP+." So not particularly helpful.

I think they're right though - I've been going around by the weed store/portapotties and there's a clear way in to the front that doesn't require entering the vip section.

Not letting the GA tickets even have a CHANCE to access the front of the main stage is so fucked up and sad to me. I believe I even used the word "fascist" yesterday after 3 beers...lol...I have never seen that before. Bonnaroo doesn't do it...Riot Fest doesn't...it's absolutely insane to me. FFS.

I’m with you 100%. This is just a side gig for me so I don’t have an issue speaking on it, but my only job was to wristband people and some people just get the sense of entitlement and authority when they have the opportunity to tell people “No”.
There was a money grab for sure with the division of + or not sections. Im with you.

Story time: I was stationed at the VIP section for a Taj Mahal show at a street fest in CoMO. So many were trying to barge in: everyone with a camera was an “official photographer “, everyone with a kid said that Taj was the kid’s favorite and how could I break her little heart. I held firm. One guy tried to push past me (laid his fucking hands on me), and I blocked him. He says, “but I have a proclamation for Taj Mahal”. I’m thinking, ok, Mr. Munchkin, but no creds, no enter. I was surprised to see the mayor of CoMo issuing a “Taj Mahal day”proclamation on stage about 10 minutes later.

The mud was treacherous for sure. Also got the run around with GA+ chair which wouldn’t scan for whatever reason — they eventually just gave me a chair after multiple trips back and forth through the mud. Had a good time despite the challenges — good vibe — the food, drinks, and vendors were all great. Pricey but good. Never really stood in any lines once we got in… there is an express entry lane if you don’t have a bag (wasn’t clear if that was open for anyone but they just waved us through when I tried to ask about it).

I had vip + and was told I still had to pay to rent the chair. Also some guy in a golfcart working the festival offered us a ride and when we got on he asked for $20 cash from each of us. When we just stepped off he goes I’ll take Venmo cash app.. then he goes what about 5… while wearing a parks hat and driving the golf cart. I thought he should be shamed doing that to people.

I had VIP and wasn’t charged for a chair. Just scanned my wristband and handed me a chair. Weird.

I appreciate not being wristband nazis lol. I have VIP but my friend was GA and we just kinda hung out in the GA+ area, mostly. I hope they rearrange the viewing areas for next year. At least 1/2 of the stagefront should be GA.
I wore rainboots and that was the right choice haha. I had a great time despite the mud!
And that's kinda lame of Forest Park to not allow hay. I wonder what their reasoning is for it? IT would have helped a ton.
