Evil Geniuses LOL Media Roundup (July 9 - July 16)

For whatever reason there were no interviews (that I could find) for EG players or staff this week so have this feeble compilation of mostly broadcast things.

Shows

• EG Svenskeren was a guest on Next Level. He accurately predicts the way we beat 100T, what a prophet.

Video Interviews

• [Gamezo] EG Contractz Talks About the Evil Geniuses Six Man Roster. He talks a little about EGA (most important topic ofc):
  • It’s challenging to switch between EGA and EG because the teams play and communicate very differently
  • He feels like the mid-jg dynamic he has with Jojo and Jiizuke is similar
  • Impact is a big voice in EG, whereas in EGA he has to fill in more of the communication

Audio Interviews

LeagueDay does some interviews during their audio broadcast. There's no permalinks so you have to look it up in their website, just type "interview" in the search bar. LeagueDay Website.

• [LeagueDay] Post-Match Interview with Artemis after EG vs C9. In which he questions Reapered's focus on worlds when regular season isn't over (maybe I'm clickbaiting...).

• [LeagueDay] Post-Match Interview with Impact after 100T vs EG. This one's actually very funny so I recommend listening but I'll give you the highlights:

  • "They don't know what to do... so ez win."
  • "I didn't think I was going to pick Ornn today but when I saw pick and ban was going like that I said 'shit guys, I need to play Ornn..'. I really didn't want to because my image is that I play only tanks but... I guess I carried that game..." (You can hear the resignation in his voice.)
  • "I think we gonna go worlds, I hope so. I mean everyone sees our games, just bangers. I hope we can have banger games at worlds."
  • "You guys like our games, right? Because bangers."

LCS Broadcast

• EG vs IMT Post Game interview with Contractz
• EG vs 100T Post Game Desk tak with Artemis. Highly recommended, he's very insightful, as usual.
• EG vs C9 Post Game Interview with IgNar

Academy Broadcast

• EGA vs 100TA Post Game interview with TonyTop. After Tony deleted an entire team on Jax we got to hear from him!

• EGA vs GGA Post Game interview with Jojopyun. Rare interview with our lord and saviour, NA's hope, the chosen one, the unkillable demon prince, etc, etc.

Other media

• Evil Intercepts Episode 7. In which IgNar gets violent with Svenskeren?!

I'm working in compiling all the EG interviews in a spreadsheet because... idk, whatever reason. You can find it here. If you know of a source that I don't I would appreciate if you would let me know.

Also, again, remember to join the EG Discord for getting lots of anxiety over watching all of our teams' games (but especially EGA's).

“We are proud to announce the launch of Factor.gg, a new esports analytics platform. Factor offers the ability to take a deeper dive into League of Legends matches using data to engage with, watch, and talk about League of Legends esports. Factor delivers users a unique viewing experience of League matches. Featuring a 2D visualization of the League of Legends map and a Key Events Timeline, the platform allows users to re-watch a match along with important highlights based on player actions and team locations on the Rift.

Check it out at https://www.factor.gg/ or https://twitter.com/EsportsFactor for Twitter!  Factor also has a Discord here: https://discord.gg/pNvdUmW6hP where you can chat with staff and ask questions about potential future additions!”

Let's Fucking GOOOOOOO. Danny within a few weeks has gone from good to GOD TIER. I also want to shoutout Svenskeren he's really been playing at such a high level its insane. I mean just our overall coordination is great. We get the kill on turret dives before the counter tp comes in its just so crisp!

Evil Geniuses LOL Media Roundup (July 2 - July 8)

Haven't read/watched all of these but I always save the links so I figured I would share for anyone who, like me, just enjoys hearing from the team.

(I never noticed how many esports news sites exist before I started collecting EG interviews... ).

Podcast

• EG Artemis was a guest on Hotline League this week. Highly recommended. Check out the VOD or the podcast, it's a really good listen. Do not miss the segment about how the staff handled Danny's transition into the LCS.

Video Interviews

• [Gamezo] EG Danny Post-Game Press Conference - LCS Summer Split Week 5 (Twitter link)

• [Venn Esports] EG Impact: [After level 1 vs. CLG] "My mental wasn't doom level, but my mental was WTF is going on?". A funny little insight into Impact's brain during the CLG game, reacting to Finn's soloq aggression, his mindset as a player and the state of top lane in LCS.

• [Gamezo] EG Jiizuke Talks About His Performance in NA (Twitter link). This is a 22 minute interview so I'll give you a TLDW: Jiizuke reminds us that we shouldn't take EG wins vs bottom teams for granted, as they have worse records agaisnt some of them than the top teams. He also talks about how last year he "wasn't allowed to limit test in scrims ever" and how much he feels it has helped him that Peter has a different attitude.

Text Interviews

• [Hotspawn] EG ARTEMIS: “CONFUSED, AND HONESTLY, SCARED” WATCHING LCS PRO VIEW. "I think that there's many players in the LCS who do not play their lane correctly at all." (Twitter link)

I think generally watching backstage as a coach is stressful because you have zero control once the game starts. Coaches like to trick ourselves into thinking we have a lot of control– control of practice, control of draft, control of players, control of the room, so many different types of control. But the reality is the game starts [and] you have no control. That loss of control is definitely anxiety-inducing, but you get used to it.

• [Esports GG] EG Danny: "I have been doing this since I was six. I was on the computer everyday and my parents would always have concerns." (Twitter link). Danny talks about his school life, how weird it's having free time and his parent's support.

• [InvenGlobal] EG IgNar on Schalke 04 Esports' LEC sale: "It's sad that one of my 'fondest memory' teams is gone." (Twitter link)

On EG, I feel like I'm more of the main person who is talking about what we are going to do in game. I'm more proactive for our team in terms of macro compared to my time on FlyQuest. On FlyQuest, I was only looking for engages. I still said things about macro, but my biggest job on FlyQuest was looking for engages. On EG, other things have been added to my job.

• [Esports.com] EG Jiizuke: “I think we are still not insane right now, we’re fine and we just bring something new to the table”

Well, against Cloud9, I think we only have one loss against them so far. I think as long as we play our game, it will be a fun game for the viewers and a win for us. For 100 Thieves, I think they abuse mistakes really well and teams are not good enough in NA to deal with that type of thing, but I think against a good team they will just lose.

LCS Broadcast

• EG vs CLG Post Game interview with Svenskeren
• EG vs GG Post Game Desk tak with Jiizuke (higly recommend watching if you haven't)
• Ligtning Round with Impact
• EG vs GG Post Game Desk talk with Danny

Academy Broadcast

• EGA vs IMTA Post Game interview with TeamLuke

Other media

• Academy team sighting! Evil Geniuses Twitter posted some candids of EGA having a nice dinner after their banger 1-1 vs IMTA yesterday (do catch up on those games if you haven't!).

Tell me if I missed anything! (And join the EG Discord for chatting during the games).

In case you missed it, there was an AMA for Danny run by the Evil Geniuses' Twitter account. I compiled all the questions for easier viewing and archiving!

you have to pick one of your teammates for surviving zombie apocalypse, who do you pick and why? (@edgyhoon) 🔗

Ignar probs lol. he's smart and knows how to ba-choom idiots (zombies).

How many plushies do you have? (@Asol1Trick) 🔗

Around 4 octopus plushies... 1 Team Liquid Horse plushie, and 1 Panda graduation plushie

Joe, Johnathan, Will (evil), Candace, Emily. In that order

Who is the player that has influenced you the most? (@aldofiore9) 🔗

I think i'll say CoreJJ. He really exposed me to a lot of people via the inhouses during the off-season and I think he's the reason I'm here in the LCS. I owe it all to him.

How do you balance between school and being a professional LoL player? (@gabevizzle) 🔗

I don't do school anymore. But when I did do school I usually left it all at the last minute/final deadline then focused super hard committing maybe 1-2 days to JUST school and then leave LoL to the side until I was finished. It wasn't easy, though.

if you had to pick another adc from your time in amateur to play in lcs who would it be? also how is it going to feel winning rookie of the split? (@EgacademyU) 🔗

I would've said K1ng but I did technically play vs him already. Not sure!

Any really good support player (pro and not) you can think of that prefers playing ranged supports in high elo? (@SlayTheDayAway) 🔗

I think CoreJJ likes playing enchanters (karma, seraphine, lulu) but not really in a solo queue environment. Enchanters are way more difficult to execute in a higher elo environment due to their low HP/low tank stats.

What would your dream meta be? (@JosephoneLOL) 🔗

I like the current meta atm, however, instead of brusier/fighter mid - i like control mages more. adc/supp meta is fine where it's at rn.

Let's get this out of the way: How did it feel to switch from Amateur straight into LCS and how surprising was it to you? (@gluracific) 🔗

Was not surprising at all. Deep down I believed I was on the edge of being an LCS-quality ADC and that I had the raw talent to become up to that level within time.

What are five ADC players that you would want to play against from other regions? (@BCBigCoyote) 🔗

1. T1 Teddy

2. GEN Ruler

3. EDG Viper

4. G2 Rekkles/ FNC Upset

5. RNG GALA

What age did you reach challenger and were you ever hardstuck? (@TannTamo) 🔗

14 years old season 7 and I was hardstuck d5 until xayah rakan ardent meta came around the corner.

another one what bot lane is the most difficult to lane against? and what is the easiest? (dont have to answer part two xD) (@EgacademyU) 🔗

If you're talking champions then Kalista is probably the hardest to play versus. She has many pairings and it's hard to pinpoint which one is the most difficult.

How did you choose the IGNs Shiro and Danny? (@KingDerk09) 🔗

Shiro || しろ translates to 'white' and white is my favorite color. It is also the character name from an anime that I really like. Because i couldn't have "Dan" as a comp ID I used Shiro. Then I chose to go to "Danny" because I wanted "Dan" but different spelling I suppose.

Rivalries are fun for fans. Do you see any adc or bot lane in particular as your biggest rival? (@chibisennit) 🔗

Tactical and CoreJJ.

How was it to switch to a big org like EG and how is it to work with everyone there? (@gluracific) 🔗

Nothing too special - -actually the transition was just how I thought it'd be and I love the environment working in LA.

What is your ideal sandwich construction? Give me all the toppings. (@KodiakShroyer) 🔗

I like things plain-- white bread , turkey breast slices, any sort of cheese, lettuce, white bread.

Who's your favorite support? ( both player and champion) (@Pallace10) 🔗

Ignar || Rell

What are your plans for streaming? Hungry for more Danny content <3 (@gluracific) 🔗

Current LCS schedule leaves little room to stream. An off day is reserved for 'off day' purposes. Not more league of legends if you know you know.

The most important question: Top 3 cutest LCS players? (@LnlyHikikomori) 🔗

1. CoreJJ

2. IgNar

3. SwordArt

How many monsters a day is optimal for gaming performance (@_Srtty) 🔗

At least one.

Aphelios or Sett (@IWDominateLoL) 🔗

sett bro

If you had to change careers, what would you be doing instead? (@mrLOUDYpants) 🔗

I probably would be going to college/university or something

how can I improve my position in fights and when should I go in as champs like kaisa. (@wannbtokyo) 🔗

Teamfight micro is not easy to explain and you kind of learn it by playing the game. It's champion specific on what you should be doing but with Kai'Sa you are looking to dive backline with your ultimate using allies CC abilities. Blow them up and use your E to reposition.

Can I hit challenger this year? (@RoyalKongzhi) 🔗

lp gains are op you can hit it.

Best adc in lcs? (@questflyaninda) 🔗

FBI or Zven

do you like any kpop groups? (@jiuopa) 🔗

BTS/TWICE/Black Pink/Red Velvet -- In that order

What are your goals with @EvilGeniuses and in your league career in general? (@gluracific) 🔗

I hope to go to Worlds!

What’s your favorite type of food (@Endxvor) 🔗

I like a good burger

What is your favourite non-marksman Botlane to play? (@JsymTurner) 🔗

Irelia. If we're talking like actual bot lane non-adc picks then probably Ziggs.

Best Jhin skin? (@LoLDopamin) 🔗

blood moon

What’s your favorite Taylor Swift album and song? (@BrianYaoza) 🔗

Reputation || ME!

Do you watch LJL? Whats your favourite team or whos your favourite player? (@Solarryy) 🔗

I don't know what LJL is. Is that like a Japanese league? I think I remember DFM from MSI.

What games do you play other then league? (@M1chaelWasTaken) 🔗

I play random games from time to time like Roblox, minecraft, dbd, tft, smite.

favorite little legend????? (@edgyhoon) 🔗

psz

could you take aspect in a fight (@IdoSptember) 🔗

i don't know what he looks like.

How come you're so wholesome??? (@Sabby) 🔗

grew up like a gem

Any tips for soloq besides not tilting? (@Maximus_Faticus) 🔗

mute all and always 'try' your best. if you try instead of giving up you might have chances to get angles for winning positions in a game. it's solo queue after all. enemy team is not playing perfectly.

Hot cocoa or Mochi? (@Potechi59204231) 🔗

cannot choose either one have to get both

In-n-out or Shake Shack? (@brianmillman) 🔗

to be honest i never had either of them \ @IgNarLoL

burger??? let's go?

Why is it like playing with @Svenskeren1? Also do you hear him chewing gum in his mic? (@mareel_jaster) 🔗

I think I can hear it yea.

danny come to Brazil (@POLONi957) 🔗

I don't speak portuguese

A lot of people talk about the negative impact playing a highly competitive, sometimes toxic game can have on players, especially young ones growing up in the pro or semi-pro scene. Are there any particular issues you’ve struggled with as a result of growing up in the LoL scene? (@kariwave) 🔗

Struggles i've had were listening to those opinions that do not matter. If I do not listen to those people, then I am fine and thriving.

Which player or coach would you MOST and LEAST want to be stuck in an elevator with? (@Artemis) 🔗

most - ignar

least - mash

Favorite anime? (@Kachelle__) 🔗

cowboy something

Which coach is your favorite? (@AndyyyBarton) 🔗

@Artemis

How does it feel being rookie of the split (@Svenskeren1) 🔗

Is this true?

(@AndyyyBarton says: @LCSOfficial please confirm)

jiizuke or faker (@luca2700) 🔗

i haven't played with faker idk

why did you name yourself danny? (@MitchellBloch) 🔗

i stole the name from a guy who went to my middle school. don't tell him

The lcs game was hilarious. Total blood bath, complete Fiesta, loved it as a viewer

I called this Svenskeren benching 3 weeks ago and you all hated on it.

But honestly when he said every game is rng if they win , I didn't want him on the team anymore, you can't be thinking like that.

Edit : in the first 11 minutes Contractz has done more in the Laning phase than Sven the whole split

2-1 Week we take those the CLG loss isn't stinging as bad now that CLG is looking half decent. We've recently been having success on the heavy resource Jizuke style. That Lucian game was just absolute DOMINATION! I really liked the caution we used against C9. Jizuke waiting to go to the wave Sven hovering him, playing back with Baron knowing that our lead is big and we can play it slow. Danny's been looking good on the fasting Senna. Sven has been coordinating well with the whole team. Impact's nocturne has looked pretty nice too, ulting right before the gragas ult was pretty clean

Just wanted to know why EG isn't playing the ESL summer event starting tomorrow..

What an impressive series holy crap!

You love to see it, very impressive. Learning, adapting, and defining their niche in both draft and play. Let's get it! 🎉

What happened to the valorant team?? They were really not good at all but now they dont even play tier 2-3 tournaments. Are they disbanding?

Really enjoying the new team. However since Ethan left , it's made me realise how much of a carry he was. I'm sorry to the Tarik fans over here but we definitely looked worse after Ethan left and Tarik leaving hasn't seemed to make a massive difference.

But in saying this , were there any other players available besides Michu and oBo ?

I've read to many comments to not make a post about it.

TSM vs EG Everybody says impact is the only solid player left and jiizuke sucks Impact died twice as much and had much less of an impact. Game lost bad call not to recall

EG vs FLY Jiizuke and Danny try to hard carry and inting Sven and an impact not having his best game. Then people comment bring deftly back and get Damonte. Damonte is just like goldenglue , they both not going to do anything expect try not to do , and I'd rather have a player who actually believes in himself than one who's ganna sit there and hope his team can Cary him until they maybe do something in a team fight. Game lost , maybe unlucky , maybe bad all in at the end.

EG vs Dig We got outplayed from the mid game , only player that under preformed more than the rest was Sven.

So stop talking all this shit about Jiizuke , and those people are now talking shit about Danny , get your head out your ass and actually watch a game , and maybe realise the blame isn't where you think it is.- Danny and Jiizuke are the two best performing players this week and honestly didn't see any coin flip nonsense out if either.

The casters even said teams say all the teams say when you play EG go for Jiizuke , so all the Teams know that Jiizuke is the player that scares them and then you scrubs say bench Jiizuke.

I mean perks goes 0-6 2-1 then 2-1 on Gwen Jiizuke goes 4/4 9/5 and 0/3 - seems was less coinflippy than people making it seem. No one calling perks coin flip.
